It's right out of Orwells Nineteen Eighty Four book.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Each illegal lover should put their money where their mouth is by volunteering their ID and SSN for some poor American dream wanting illegal to use to help them establish how good a law breaker they are so they can stay and take advantage of us semi-legally.

I don't want my illegal lover putting her money there. thats filthy

I read that before it was written

Because it's not demand of unskilled labor or lack thereof that is driving wages, but lack of negotiating power by the labor force. There isno substantiated evidence that shows that the undocumented labor force lowered demand for service industry jobs, but rather many Americans had the opportunities for economic mobility were able to get the kind of education and training to move up the economic ladder. The problems with depressed wages and lower buying power of Americans is primarily a problem with the labor market in general and has little to do with the number of undocumented workers here.

That just doesn't make sense, Steve. You cannot add a few million people to the labor supply and expect that not to have any effect on the wages. Nobody says that demand has dropped but supply has certainly surged.

Look to the fast food restaurant chains as well as the large department stores like Walmart or Target, especially when the economy was much stronger. Many of them couldn't find or keep enough workers and you'd see a lot of 'Now Hiring' signs posted semi-permanently. They weren't offering higher wages as an incentive to attract workers. The only factors that really drive lower end wages are minimum wage laws and collective bargaining, which these companies fight long and hard against. Also, when you're one of the few major employers in town across rural America, the ebb and flow of a labor pool is rarely an issue. Typically, it has been teenagers who've provided a steady supply of cheap labor, but many of them have access to higher education and training, giving them economic mobility and making such low end jobs just a temporary solution.

Getting back to what I stated earlier - we should be looking at the bigger picture of the labor market instead of squabbling over crumbs and going after the little guys.

No one is only focusing on the "little guys", but some, like you, want to pretend that the "little guys" aren't a part of the problem.

I remember when a person could make 18,000 a year, pay $300 a month mortgage, buy a new car and still have disposable income. I know coz I did it when I was in my late teens and early twenties before my trust fund kicked in. I went to school with international students who graduated and stayed in the US, and experienced outsourcing even back then. But, one thing that was done then that isn't done now is that immigration laws were enforced and illegals were scared by La Migra. Coddling them has been part of a formula that punishes Americans and rewards law breaking. That is not what I want my tax dollars going for.

Yes, we need millions of illegal aliens, especially with this economy. We also need more natural disasters...we can't have enough of those either. And while I'm at it, I need another lobotomy.

What's the humanitarian issue here? That these people have no country to return to? Not so in most cases. What would be humanitarian is to teach them that the laws apply to them, too, and that it's best to do things legally so law abiding people don't resent you. Then, send them back to reform their own laws instead of trying to break or reform ours.

Is descriminating against someone because of the geographic location of their mothers ####### at the time of birth superior in a moral sense to descriminating against someone due to the color of their mothers skin?

The law of this country is the law. Don't break the laws and your good to go. If your parents break the laws of this country and you suffer for it, well that's life. No anchor babies.

So in your opinion, free will is something that needs to be take away from society and people need to be conformed to a certain way of living. What you're talking about is not education at all. What you're talking about is creating a perfect society, a perfect race. If memory serves me correctly, we've fought against those who do this.

Education doesn't stop you from becoming a criminal. Education decides (in many cases) what type of criminal you become. Just look at Wall Street, bankers, politicians, lawyers, etc. You don't need to be 'poor' to be a criminal. It just decides whether you're robbing a 7-Eleven or a Trust fund.

On the 'aliens' part. The United States of America is a sovereign nation that has rules and borders. If you are attempting to sneak into a sovereign nation and you are carrying items with you, that could potentially be dangerous to our nation and its citizens, then you should absolutely be shot on-sight. If a burgler breaks into your home, do you give him a chance to show you what's in his bag first before you shoot him?

No. That is not my opinion. You're either psycho or you're not. Killing people that can be otherwise detained, or prevented from crossing a national boundary without immigration inspection, is psycho. Advocating it is just as psycho. Feel free to ignore what people are actually writing- it will continue confirming things.

For the rest, its just another Paul rant ignoring the text that was referred to twice already in the same thread.

i'd just settle for another beer.

Its grilling time as we speak. Forgive the lack of VJing from hence on... there have been a few bottles placed in the recycling bin already.

You do realize that a sane person can advocate for the 'killing' or 'death' of others, right?

How people 'think' doesn't necessarily have to do with sanity.

You can keep trying though and play next time!

Sanction the murder of people at the border, Paul, you have done it before and you stand by it. Its a testament to your mental state. Keeping things away from the context they're being discussed is another hallmark of some mental issues- just saying. No hurt intended.

OK, I smell smoke on the grill. Peace.

You really need to re-educate on the mental state of people.

Just because something is 'against societal norm,' does not make it psychotic.

Perhaps we should talk about how homosexuality is psychotic? Want to go there? No, I didn't think so.

So all an illegal alien has to do now is (1) EWI, (2) find the closet CBP officer (3) surrender and demand a deportation hearing (4) if no violent criminal record is discovered, handed an EAD free of charge! Sweet, that ought to really unclog the court dockets!

Education is what you get from reading the small print. Experience is what you get from not reading it.
