Its been kind of slow in here. I need some good reading during the slow times at work!

We just celebrated our 6 month wedding anniversary. I'm so very blessed to have my husband by my side. He sure is a solid rock in my life.

We got our EAD in the end of November. Haven't heard ANYTHING from our AOS since October 1st. I'm wondering what's up since most people who filed at my same time either have their interview or were transferred to California. But no real complaints since I'm here with my husband and for alot of you on this forum--that's not an easy task to acheive.

So where's everyone at with their process or adjusting?

Malcon is adjusting. The weather and being away from family and friends is the hardest, but he is managing. No real news. We filed for AOS and EAD. He has his biometrics appt. on March. 6th, so we are hoping for EAD before the end of March. He has been working on studying for his GED for sometime in the future so he can further his education later on. Other than that, just adjusting to married life. All is good. I was worried about him getting sick. I got a pretty nasty cold about a month ago, and then had the flu this week. He has been amazing. He barely had a cough when I had the cold and hasn't shown any signs of the flu. I am very thankful for that. Nothing much else new.

Well we will going for Biometrics on March 2nd. We are awaiting some credentials and reference letters, so he can better ready for work.

But the funniest thing.......I went to the SSA office waited up to 3 hours for them to call my number for them to tell me that I couldn't change my name on my social security card until I had one ID in the old name and one ID in the new name. And I'm

Well to make the story worst I go to the Driver's license office and they tell me that I need the SS card in new name. So by this time (after waiting 1 hour and 47 mins), I'm really  . I explain to the guy what the SSA told me and said they are more powerful than you guys....lol So I was able to get the name change on the license.

Well I received a letter in the mail today stating that there is a pending alarm on my DL because the SSA says the name does not match what they have  Well I have to take in a SS card with new name. Will somebody tell the federal and state government that it is called communication. This is why we were in trouble with the KAtrina and Rita issues.....

I hope they don't pull me over and start nonsense, because my patience is really thin in this process. I'm still trying to mentally prepare for the drive and waiting at INS.

Anybody else have problems getting name changed? :help:

Renious is here and we are doing well. He is looking for jobs, and I think he finally got one today (fingers crossed) and should be starting next week. His temp EAD expires on 03-25, so he'll be able to work for less than month, but something is much better than nothing.

During the time that he has to sit around the house between EADs he'll probably take the GED and take a nursing assistant course.

As for the name change thing, I was planning to wait until all of his paperwork was done to avoid problems with the USCIS paperwork, but now I want to change my name sooner than that. I'm sure it's going to be a pain, but it has to be done sooner or later, so I might as well get it over with.

We got married in December, but we are having the wedding on March 11. I am beyond nervous. Standing up there with everyone's eyes on me is not my idea of fun, but at least Re will be up there with me.

Anyway, that's my update. I hope you are all doing well.

well, as for our update...eugine finally got his plane ticket and he'll be arriving march 10 in chicago! i can't believe that 2 weeks from right now i'll be with him, it still seems so unreal. though i'm so excited to sstart my life with him, i can feel the nerves coming...my life is going to completely change and of course his will change even more...but its a bit nerveracking thinking that he will depend on me for everything and that my little independent self will have to get used to compromise and making decisions for 2. anybody else feel these kinds of nerves before your s.o. arrived? but just thinking about having him next to me, to never be separated again, just sends little warm fuzzies all through me.

Yes! I can definately also say that I felt this before he came. I am also very independent. I love him with all my heart and am thilled to be married to him and share our life together, but I was a bit nervous before he came. I was worried about the exact same things you are thinking about. It has been wonderful having him here. I can't imagine how I made it that year without him. But, I have had to make changes. But, it was a help that I was prepared and knew that there would be changes and was open to them before he came. So it hasn't been that difficult. Not that every minute is a honeymoon, but for the most part, my fears about what I might have to give up, change, or lack of freedome have not been an issue for us.

We're going on being married 2.5 years. It's been almost 2 years that Nani arrived here. Life is really great for us. No more immigration issues until June 2007 (I-751) and our first baby is due 09/19/2006. I am currently looking to possibly relocate us one more time due to a potential job offer that will allow me to provide much better for our growing family. It would also put us very close to some of Nani's family. Not that we're not in good shape where we are but there's nothing wrong with seeking further improvements. Life is simply awesome. :D

My husband arrived December 14. Things went pretty quickly as far as getting the Greencard and SSN. He has been working for a month now. He is adjusted because he has lived in Europe and in the States before. The only thing is we live in NC and he would prefer a bigger city that has African communities and stores and such. Because he was living in NY before. But I hate big cities and fast past living. So I am looking to move maybe to Raleigh, Charlotte, ATL, some city life but still southern style. We will only move though if I land the type of job position I want in those areas. Everything else is normal and typical of any relationship
