W2 missing on Tax Return

Please help.

My fiancé´s tax return is made by a third part preparer.

I got all the sheets from her. It´s very organized with a comparasion 2004-05 sheet, federal and state returns and even a next year´s estimated tax.

Anyways, it has all the info about wages and a some info with the title "wages received and taxes withheld".

She had 3 different employers last year and all the info is there.

The thing is that the actual W2 forms are not attached.

It´s not there.

She doesn´t have a copy.

She´ll try and get that info from this people who do her taxes but since it says on the cover sheet "we are enclosing the documents you gave us to assist in the preparation of the returns", I believe they don´t keep it there. Am I right?

So the main question is: if she needs to get a copy of her W2s from the 3 employers she had last year, will she get it? I mean, do they keep it? Does anyone know about this?

Please, please help.

I thought all you needed was the Transcripts you can order over the phone from the IRS. You sure you need copies of the actual W-2?

Has something changed? Anyone know? Cause I called the IRS and they sent me transcripts for the past 3 years, figured that was enough.

You can get the transcripts from the IRS, this will work in place of the W2, and 1040 tax return forms.

I was told the W2 was actually part of the Tax Return, since you must attach the W2 to the Tax Return....

Anyways, how do i get this transcript from IRS?

Also, this transcript doesn´t come with the W2?

Thank you guys for helping me with this. I´m very concerned.

Also, How long does it take to get it??

I´m only (?) 4 weeks away from my interview. Do I have enough time?

Takes about 7-10 days to get the transcripts. You shouldn't need the actual W-2, you just need the transcript that shows a summary of your taxes, and proves that you paid your taxes.

There are two kinds of transcripts, one is a simplifed free version. The other costs money, but includes more information. The free one will work just fine. I asked my lawyer about this when we first started the process, and she said to get the free ones.

Thanks.

I was just reading the IRS link you posted and came back here to ask about this..

I see there´s a way to get a copy of everything including the actual W2 form itself, but it cost money and what it´s worse: 60 days.

So the free transcripts should work fine, right?

They come with all the info or with the actual W2 attached?

I heard the Consulate in Brazil do accept transcripts, but since there are two different kinds and they told me they want the tax returns and the W2 I got confused.

If the transcripts come with the W2 info and are provided by IRS, it should work, right?

From every thing I have read the tax-transcripts have everything they need on them, again they are just supporting documents showing that your fiance makes enough money to support you, he should also get a letter from his employer with information about nature of job, permanent or temp, salary.

The transcripts will be fine.

Thanks. The Consulate in Rio doesn´t look at the job letter if you meet the 125% on your tax returns.

That would be fine, but the tax return copy I have doesn´t show the actual w2 form.

If the transcripts are fine, I´ll ask for that.

Hopefully they accept that in Brazil.

Does it come with the W2 form or just its information?

Looks like your right RLT. I sent an email to the Consulate in Rio regarding evidence in support of the I-134 form out of curiosity today, and this was they're reply.

Dear Sir or Madam:

Together with the I-134 form, you’ll have to present your last income tax and the W2 form only.

Regards,

IV Unit

They don't even mention a letter from employer, bank letters, pay stubs... hmm.

Well... This is what I got today:

Dear Sirs,

I-134 asks for copies of the latest tax returns. Do transcripts obtained with IRS suffice?

YES.

Regards

Great news, I have transcripts, but will probably toss in the W2 as well. I'm suprised this is all they ask for
