All this banter is pretty funny. Bottom line is that the IDF can do whatever they want. The U.S. will and has always vetoed any resolution against Israel. I still rack my brain trying to understand how the Israelis can do what they do, and then claim victim status. You would think if they looked back to Europe in the 40s, they'd be a little more compassionate. Apparently not.

I kinda doubt that. It is what it is. It's definitely unfair, but I doubt it will lead to any new policies. Bottom line is: Israel does nothing wrong. Period. That is US policy. And for all of you that that are too afraid to say it... It's about $. Religion has nothing to do with it.

Among other factors involved in a change, the US is losing money and Israel is losing friends. Both are due for a rude awakening.

Don't get me wrong. I'm no fan of the Muslim nuts, but Israel is just another oppressive govt. with the political and financial backing of the U.S. It's pretty ironic that Egypt and Israel both get $3B a year from us. Although Israel get's the better planes and technology. I say screw it.. not our problem.

I wasn't getting testy and apologise if it seemed that way to you. I have been intentionally misquoted before and, after asking a straight question, hoped for a straight answer.

The reason for the question is to build a better jigsaw. The Jewish terrorists played a big part in how the situation came evolve the way it did, but they weren't the only factor, something that can be conveniently ignored when people try to attribute responsibility and blame to what happened, and is still happening, there.

And for those that might ask why I'm interested, my father was serving with the Royal Air Force in Palestine at the time the King David Hotel was bombed. Two of his friends died there.

The current situation is one of financial gain, war makes money; peace not so much. War profiteering is nothing new. Israel has enough firepower to set up a Palestinian state, it would defuse the situation and make security that much easier. No more scapegoats, local dictators would not be able to rail against Israel or claim that they're helping the Palestinians, problem solved.

It's all about dollars and cents. Israeli companies have contracts with Palestinian firms to produce industrial equipment and unfinished goods. The IDF seizes the equipment via naval blockage and the like so that the Palestinian firms can't produce anything. You would think that people who are working wouldn't have time to protest, whereas the unemployed have plenty of time. Doesn't make sense to me, either.

There are many ways to resolve the situation, but none will work if they are the result of only one side's actions. Israel might be able to set up a Palestinian state, as you say, but unless the many Palestinian political and militant organisations buy in, there still won't be a lasting peace. Unless groups like Hamas and the PRC agree on a path of non-violence, you will still have cross-border attacks and retaliation, and the body count will continue to rise.

But a good start would be for Israel to forego retaliation the next time there is a terrorist attack and let the world media bring pressure to bear to stop the attacks from happening in the first place.

What self-respecting Palestinian would buy into an Israeli "gifted" state? I don't know any who would, besides, Israel has no authority to do that. They have their hands full trying to keep their own nation legitimate.
