did they keep her EAD?

Hi all,

Well this past Monday we had our appt for my wife's AOS at the immigration building on Congress Pkwy in downtown Chicago. We were amazed at how short the interview was, about 20 minutes, and I'd agree with other people on here who've said that it seems as though if you started with a K1 that it makes the AOS interview just kind of a formality. Probably only downside to our interview was that the officer was pretty stern and emotionless until the very end when she slipped a bit of a grin upon saying we were approved conditionally for 2 years. She didn't say much at all except for the basic questions. We were never separated at all.

Anyways Tuesday the day after the interview my wife tells me she can't find her Employment Authorization Document. She's been looking high and low and I was figuring it'd turn up. The officer did ask for it, but never mentioned that we had to surrender it permanently or that she was keeping it. I've searched around here on the forums a bit and it looks like that's the case. So now my wife just wants confirmation that the officer kept her EAD and that it didn't fall out of the file folder somewhere downtown.

Congrats on your approval , and yes, it seems the EAD was kept back during the interview. That is normal. It is no longer valid, since green card is good for travel and employment.
