My wife applied for AOS in mid-October. She has had her biometrics appointment, and we're waiting on the interview.

We have decided to move out of state in January 2007, and it doesn't seem at all certain that we'll have an interview by then. My question is, if we send a change-of-address form to USCIS, will they automatically shift the interview to a location near our new address? Or do we need to make special arrangements to change the location of the interview, etc.? It seems like this is not a very good time for us to move.

Thanks for the advice, everyone.

Hello,

If your wife don't receive her appointment of interview for her AOS on November, then send a form R-11 (change of address) on December and call the NSC to update your new address.

Good luck and God bless :)

The AR-11 does not generate an actual mailing address change, its just a notification to USCIS that the immigrant has moved. You the sponsor also need to send address change yourself. Send form I-865 to the district office where your AOS stuff is, along with a letter to ask them to transfer it to your new district. You may want to also send a photocopy of the forms and letter to your *new* district to notify them that you've requested the transfer.

They will likely change your address, but its not likely that they will transfer your file to your new district. Expect to have to go back for your interview, as others have done.

Have USPS forward your mail for a few months too. It doesn't cost a lot, but if you don't get it, it could cost your wife her interview and deportation.

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card

PLEASE DO NOT PRIVATE MESSAGE ME OR EMAIL ME. I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT CURRENT US IMMIGRATION PROCEDURES!!!!!
