My friend arrived Austin Texas over three weeks ago. Until now he has not received his Green Card. He is very worried. He said he was giving a paper at Point of Entry which contain the contact no (USCIS) or so where he can make contact if the card delay. But now the card is lost. What can he do to facilitate the arrival of the card? Is there any provision for e-mail or for phone call. Please kindly help. Thanks

How does he know the card is lost? Has he just not received it yet? Sometimes it takes longer than 3 weeks. If he's worried he can make an INFOPASS appointment about it. He has the GC stamp in his passport so he's able to work and what not. Has he received his SSN yet? He'll need that to work as well.

He has received his SSN. But has not received his Green Card. He felt it is late. That is why am asking for opinion here. What he lost is not the green card but a piece of paper given to him at the point of entry. Whioch contain a phone no or so that would have been useful to find out about his card. So you suggest he still wait? That three weeks is not too long? Thanks.

It was probably the information line number: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.eb1d4c2a3e5b9ac89243c6a7543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=ddce0b89284a3210VgnVCM100000b92ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=ddce0b89284a3210VgnVCM100000b92ca60aRCRD

They'll ask for his alien number so make sure he knows where that is (it'll be on his paperwork somewhere... possibly NOA2). It certainly doesn't hurt to find out what's taking so long (if he feels it is). The fact he received the SSN means they at least have his address right (some people don't get the SSN but get the GC).
