Sent Packet 3 couple of weeks ago, should I go ahead and schedule an Interview!

Hey guys,

I recieved packet 3 from Montreal around July 20th and was able to send everything they've asked for back to them by August 4. I tracked the packet on DHL website and looks like it was delievered the very next day. I haven't been able to verify that though the Immigrant Visa unit. I sent them an email but no response. I just read it somewhere on this forum that I can call DOS/NVC and try to figure out whether or the packet has been logged into Montreal's systems. In the mean time though, should I go ahead and try to schedule an interview? Or should I wait until I get the packet 4 or the email (whatever comes first). I've been hearing all these horor stories about the delays at US embassy in Montreal and I don't want to wait for

another month just to recive an email.

Also when I logged into the CSC visa information website, it looks like they didn't have any appointments. The system kept telling me "There are no available appointments at this time" which really freaked me out. I'm still a little confused how are we going to do this when the time comes if they don't have any appointments. Besides I was told by someone that since this is a Immigrant K1 visa, shouldn't they be scheudling our interview instead of asking the applicant to do so. This is the most frustrating thing I have ever been through in my life. Can someone please shed on light on what's the most appropriate course of action should be? I would really appreciate your help!

You need to call DOS at 1-202-663-1225 press 1 for main menu then right away press 0 for an operator. Ask them if your packet 3 has been logged. If it has ask them if packet 4 has been sent and if you are eligible for an interview. DO NOT schedule until they tell you that you are eligible for an interview. You don't have to wait for physical packet 4 to arrive just for them to tell you you can schedule.

Another quick follow up question for you since you seem pretty knowledgable, what should I do about the appointments though, I was just trying on usvisa-info.com site (The new CSC system they have for DHL and scheduling), there are no appointments available. Is there anotehr website that I'm not aware of? How do I schedule an appointment if it keeps telling me there aren't any available?

heelo peeps,

My fiance filed a petition for me,which has been approved.She said i should be expecting a packet from the embassy in Nigeria.

After three weeks i didnt get anything from them,so we decided to send a mail,which we did.Some few days after,they sent me an interview date with an attachment of documents to fill out.

Please what do i do with the forms because it was not stated on the information sent to me.

and wat other documents do i need for k1 visa

I believe that DOS is in the DC area. I googled the phone number way back when and that was the result I got. Sometimes the wait time is long to get through to someone but sometimes it can be very quick.

The website that you have will be the right one. You should not be trying to schedule until you are told you can. From what I have been reading on other peoples posts is that they are not seeing available dates until they actually pay the interview fee. Someone may correct me on this. Once you schedule you can keep checking back for earlier dates. Quite often new dates open up.

I hope you get good news from DOS this morning.

I would love to help you but I am not sure of the procedure at the Nigerian consulate. My suggestion is to repost your question in the Nigeria forum. You will probably get better results :-) On the home page of VJ on the left hand side you will see Country Portals...Click on that then pick your country. Good luck!

Thanks once again Jeannie for the encouraging words. The number you put out was correct, the guy finally picked up after about 19 mins, right of the bat I asked him exactly what you told me about the status of packet 3, and he said it was logged in, then I asked him about the packet 4 ETA, and he said he doens't know when? While I was at it, I also asked him if the packets has been reviewed yet and was there anything missing or any RFE, he said it doens't look like it. So that was a pretty good news.

Then I asked him about the interview date and scheuling, he said it hasn't been scheduled which threw me off, as my understanding was that they were going to authorize me so that I can schedule it myself, but this guy seem adamant about what he thought would happen. So as you would imagine I'm pretty confused. Also, I asked him about the point you brought up about the payment, he said they don't really know, every embassy have their own way adn if Montreal need you to pay now, they will let you know, otherwise you pay when you show up for the interview.

Do you think I should wait for that email/packet 4 or at least get the medical out of the way in the interest of time. Also, he said to contact Monteal directly if you really need to know who's going to schedule your interview, do you know if they have a phone number where I can reach them, because they haven't replied to any of my emails yet! Hello again Jeannie, first off all sorry I didn't know how the messages and comments on this website works, I guess I was hoping for a facebook style notification pop up anyway, thanks and I'll responsd to it right after this.

Yeah I think you're right on the money, the guy seem extremely nice and laid back and very confident in his answers to a certain extent, but I think he's pretty new and made some of that stuff up.. I will take your advice and call them again before the day is out. Do you know if it's ok to ask them for their employee ID or some sort of a reference number in case you have to refer back to the correspondence in the future, they won't be offended by it I hope!

And yes about the mdedical, you're right I did call the local doctor and his office told me that I need to wait until I get a letter from Montreal and only then they can schedule me for the medical!
