I'm absolutely defending a 12-year-old.

See what I did there? I said 12-year-old. A little boy. A kid. When you look at it from that perspective it's hard to insinuate this little boy is a threat to society like you do when you post things about "criminals."

It's only a simple word switch, but it means a lot when considered in context. You're big on that, right? Context? Try to take the context into account when you're touting the danger to society from a 12-year-old boy.

Slim, states have found, that for certain crimes, a 12 year old can be treated as an adult. I think they should do everything they can to try and rehabilitate the kid, but the fact of the matter is, he is a rapist, and a drain on society. Neither is something to applaud.

How does a young boy get that way? And why are you willing to pay for him to be involved in the system for the rest of his life instead of getting him the proper help he needs now?

Slim, do you not even read the text that you bothered to quote? I'm not a psychologist, so I won't presume to know how he got that way. But as for his future, I think they should try to rehabilitate him, but at the end of the day, he is a criminal, and a dangerous one at that, especially to the rest of the law abiding citizens, real Americans.

What I continually see from a poster on here is "all criminals are dangerous to society." Well, that's simply not true. If you get into a fistfight with your neighbor and you're convicted of assault, are you a danger to society? Are you even a danger to your neighbor?

Yet, here, all criminals are looped into the same category.

The two rapes specifically mentioned here counter your 'big picture' theory for society as a whole. It seems you have a particular issue with being grouped in a certain category by that certain poster. You should take that up with that person.

My personal issue is that this kid and I are in the same group and that particular poster can't acknowledge a difference between us. I'm not upset he lops us together, I'm upset that someone in need of so much help could be placed in the category that I'm in - bonehead.

He definitely does need his dose, if the evidence as established in the legal facts that are known are indeed truthful- of therapy along with the appropriate level of punishment. Stating he's a victim of abuse from no apparent evidence weakens your argument though. You are assuming as much- and while it may be correct, you need better evidence stating so that isn't assumptive.

This is called being responsible as a society to victims as much as the perpetrators.

Stop trying to make things up and just admit that you're wrong, again. Are you defending the child rapist because you think he's some sort of kindred spirit?

I'm not talking about 'your' big picture, slim- and if you feel strongly enough about this particular rapist's causal factors... feel free to gumshoe his particular case as I told you X pages ago. You will not get much disagreement from anyone so maybe for effect it won't be worth your time?

I am talking specifically about his risk to other children, and its so far been shown, if we go by the evidence stated thus far, that he is.

Slim, seriously, you need to read my posts more closely. I have compassion for victims, not for the criminals who perpetrate the crimes. In this circumstance, the girl whom he raped is the victim. If, he was abused, then he was at some point a victim too, and I would have compassion as well. However, that does not excuse what he did, but it does marginally mitigate his actions. Either way, he needs help, and to pay for his criminal actions.
