I stopped by the Dr's office with Pui today so they could look at her shot records from back in April when we did her medical. They looked at her tetanus records and it only had the date marked for her booster(which I think is the one you have every 10 years) and they want to have her get the other 2 boosters done as part of finishing her I-693. They also want to send the I-693 with only 2 of the tetanus boosters being done and not having all 3 complete. Is this right correct that I need to have her finish 2 more boosters of tetanus to complete the I-693? Looking at her documents to me it only looked like she needs to finish the last booster on MMR and varicella.

Thanks everybody,

Andy

Assuming you went to an approved USCIS Dr, they should know how to get it done. You will have to visit one in US also if any thing is over 30 days. Good luck. Call another USCIS Dr in your area for a second opinion.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

The vaccines need to be current at the time the Dr. signs the I-693. She doesn't need to wait for more boosters, but if she is due for them now, she needs them Good luck.

It was the nurse of one of the approved Dr's. Pui has two appointments for Friday. One for the place to get the shots and the second is to bring the records from the shots she got that day and from when she had her medical done so the Dr can fill out the I-693.

For tetanus I think she is current because when she had her medical done back in April they checked the last one as being completed that day when they gave her the shot. The only ones not checked were MMR dose #2 and Varicella dose #2 which we plan on getting those done.

Andy, I've been wondering about the same thing. That is, return visits to the doctor. Everybody said no. I just Googled the instructions for DOS doctors and it confirms no return visits required.

Because completion of the vaccine series often requires several months, immigrant visa applicants are not required to have received all doses of the ACIP-recommended vaccines prior to departure. Rather, they are required to have received at least one dose of each vaccine, and they are encouraged to receive as many additional doses as possible. The panel physician should stress the need for the applicants to complete the series after arrival in the United States.

If the vaccinations are incomplete at the time of foreign medical, the immigrant needs to get a vaccine transcription on I-693. The CS who fills out the form will need to make sure that the shots are current as of the day they sign it. If boosters are needed, then they are needed. For boosters after that, there is a box which says "insufficient time between intervals," but if sufficient time has passed between foreign medical and vaccine transcription, they will need another shot.

Andi,

I am not sure about your case, but while Nan was in Bangkok, Since the timeframe between medical exam and interview were almost 2 months, the doc asked her to come back before the interview to get a booster (we cqant remember which one and we are in Las Vegas for a week and we don't have the paper work here to verify). When I get home, I'll take a look at it.

In any case, you don't have to wait until all her booster are completed, just her shots and boosters have to be current and up to date.

If you still don't have an answer by the time we get back home, I'll send you a message with what we found.

Juan

Thanks everybody. We had the tetanus shot done. On question 5 of the I-693 for tetanus it was checked with "insufficient time interval". Also for Results here is what he checked "Applicant may be eligible for blanket waivers(s) as indicated above. So she had 2 or the 3 tetanus shots. If I understand this correctly the USCIS can waiver that and say we do not need to get the 3rd shot. Is this correct?

It means that for USCIS, your medical is complete because it was as up to date as it can be when the I-693 was signed. She should get any remaining shots for her health, but USCIS won't follow up on her any more. All the medical checkpoints are now over.

Thanks. I thought it was kind of cool that the DR gave us a copy of the I-693 for us to keep along with the sealed envelope for when we send in AOS. I am guessing most DR's do that.

Juan I hope you did not start to look for Nan's medical records.

No, Andy. The doc in bangkok, provided us with copies of the docs inside the envelope too. We didn't get RFE yet, although I don't think that we woudl get one atthsi point (Approved AE/AP and AOS interview already scheduled). We are going to bring the copies we got from bangkok just in case. We hope this works.
