Interview in London--What to Bring?

My DH has his interview on Tuesday

In our haste to get all our forms off, we also sent the I864ez! Oops, only to discover this should have been brought with him to the interview. He has emailed the UCIS London, and they said they will ensure it will be at the interview (they will bring the copy that they have in his file). I have filled out another form, and scanned it to my husband, for him to bring "just in case".

So, what other things should he bring? I've told him to bring photos, but i'm not sure what other supporting info he'll need?

We've been married over 2 years, but i'm concerned about my income in my statement of support.

in 2008 I earned 47,000.00

in 2009 I earned 9,000.00

and in 2010 I earned 5,000.00

The reason for the low income levels is that we moved to the UK in 2009, so I did not work a full financial year. I worked in the UK for a year, then moved back for a job offer in November 2010. I hope that my offer letter, and recent pay stubs are proof enough that my anticipated income this year is over 58,000.00.

I'm so nervous, we are at the end of the line for this process, and i'm just nervous that we will be denied. What is the rate of this happening?

From what I understand they look at the past year 2010 and your current earnings it will be up to the interviewer but since your last years earnings are well below the poverty level you should line up a co sponsor as a back up plan. You may make it through but its best to be prepared if you do not. Its not a complete denial it is a snag.

As for proof of relationship photos phone records financial statements linking the two of you correspondence. Good luck

What do you mean a co-sponsor? Can a relative do this? Do they need to fill out I864 too? I earn well over the poverty line, and have considerable funds in savings. Seems silly that because I earned foreign income the past 2 years that this would be considered a "snag"? I have submitted paystubs from my post at the NHS in the UK too. And my P45...but obviously, this is not a US tax return.

No, you're fine. You have a very obvious reason for why you had lower income for two years, and now you have ample proof of your current income. You've been working at your new job for aaages so really you're in a great position.

No need for photos. He will need his police certificate etc. The only thing he needs from you is the I-864 stuff: so tax transcripts, and a recent pay stub. The recent pay stub should be sufficient to show your income because I would assume that by this month you have already earnt more than the poverty guidelines?

Yes, OK, this makes more logical sense. He sent off the I864 material in error, and they have emailed him and stated:

Thank you for your email.

"The Immigrant Visa Unit has received your I-864 form and will hold the form and documents on file until the time you appear for an interview. You should bring all other documents with you at the time of your interview on the 23rd August. "

I have told him to bring a copy of the I864, and copies of the paystubs, offer letter, irs transcripts, etc with him JUST IN CASE the case worker forgets. And also to print out the email from USCIS.

Yes, I have already earned above the poverty line this year (tax year 2011), and have paystubs to reflect this, so hopefully this will be sufficient.

We filed in November, this has been a lengthy process, but I can finally see the light :)

Can I just check with you that you have all of the other documents you need-- e.g. marriage certificate, birth certificate, police certificate?

Yes, he has his birth certificate, a marriage certificate with the raised seal, and his police certificate...as well as his photos for the visa.

It sounds like you'll be fine! Good luck and keep us posted on how it goes!
