What's so surprising. The Impeachment was based on Johnson's "breaking the law" - the Tenure of Office Act, to be precise.

It was not based on a lack of popularity. You still owe me the precendent for that. Keep looking old man. ;)

Okay. You win. He won't be impeached because he is unpopular. Clinton was popular. That was why he was impeached. Obama has nothing to worry about.

Clinton hit the same approval ratings as Obama is at right now the year before the '96 election. He got re-elected and Bob Dole was a far more palatable candidate to independents than Perry or Bachmann. Reagan's were about the same in 1983.

All of those having an orgasm about a 40% approval rating could be disappointed.
