Is anyone's CR1 interview to be scheduled in Chennai embassy either in end of October or 1st week of November? Most of the members seems to have Bombay consulate assigned. Please let me know as it would help to estimate the timelines because my case got closed on August 30th

A few on here have case closed right around the end of the month of August. Chennai had a lot of interviews up a few weeks ago, but I am not sure about the end of the month. You have a slight chance for October but do not be surprised if you get early November. Good Luck!

Hi all,

any advise how to write an email to NVC or Indian embassies to move the CR-1 visa Interview date earlier than scheduled date? Do we Ned to specify any reason to them? Kindly appreciated your ideas or comments.

I don't know or heard if embassies allows applicants to request for early interviews but if you have solid reasons and feel that they should grant you early interview then just put petitioner information, beneficiary information, case number, reason for request, and follow up contact information. I beleive Dave has sent an e-mail so he can help you more with the structure of the e-mail and where to send the e-mail/letter. Good luck and please update us, so other members will know about scheduling earlier appointment.

I wasn't going to give any help for this and try to benefit for myself only, but I looked at myself in the mirror and I know I am not a mean person so I am posting to help others. :)

First thing, I have not sent out the e-mail yet and I suggest you do the same so unless you are prepared to go to the interview at a moments notice. We know how hard it was to get the first initial interview can you imagine how hard it will be if an expedite is granted and you have not attained the right documents needed for the interview and have to reschedule again? That gives me the chills and nightmares and it's not even night time yet! lol

There is no structure for this type of e-mail. Just write down what you feel. Don't try and make up a circumstance to try to get an expedite. This can make your case into a scary one quick by doing that. Just ask politely that you would like to get an early interview if a person either, opts out (rare) or reschedules their original interview. I have read of other consulates/embassies giving out early appointments based on these letters on VJ and what the consulate/embassy has to work with. None of these requests were to India though, they were to less immigration traffic countries. Quite frankly, I do not think any action will be taken cause flat out, Mumbai is crazy busy! It never hurts to try though.

I am actually happy in one way as this gives my wife to spend more time with her family before coming and joining me and my family for the rest of her life. I do think selfishly at times and would like her here ASAP , but I am human, caring and compassionate as well and do wish the best for her and if that means a few more weeks for her to prepare and cope (mentally and physically) for the journey and life change she is going to embark I am ready to do that for her. :)

So good luck, please let us know how it works out for you. I have left it up to my wife to make the decsion if I should sent this expedite request e-mail out to Mumbai or not. She wants to sit on it and think about it for a few days and I totally respect that. She is going to finish up the Medical and Passport Clearance Cert in the next few weeks. I want her to get that done early and out of the way.

Hi dave, i misunderstood about you sending the e-mail. I have read in one of your post that you were going to do it that is why i said "i beleive" as i was not sure whether or not you sent an e-mail regarding an earlier interview. As far as the reason is concern you always have to be truthful whether its the USCIS, NVC,DOS or the US embassy in india so i was saying if you have a medical treatment, or relatives' or friends' wedding, or planning a vacction in usa etc just put those reason and not to make one just so that the beneficiary can come early.

Thank you Dave for your suggestions. I will leave the decision up to my spouse whether an early interview request can be done or not. Meanwhile we are preparing a list of documents which shows about ongoing relationship with my spouse. Please let mr know if I am missing anything. This will also help other members too. Others too can feel free to share their views.
