Transferring Case to a Different Consulate

Salaam all!

I'm trying to see if anyone has been successful in getting their case transferred from one consulate in MENA to another. I'm trying to get our K-1 moved from Syria (which isn't doing K1s right now) to either Lebanon, Jordan or Turkey.

I've been told that they can only move a case if my fiance is residing in that country or if he has nationality there. Lebanon told me that if there was "extreme hardship" in him applying in his home country, they would consider it. I wrote them an email and I'm still waiting for a response.

Has anyone recently had their case transferred from one embassy to another, and HOW DID YOU DO IT!? It seems impossible right now! Any advice would be appreciated!

Really? No one else in the Middle East has ever had their case transferred?!

I am really sorry for what you are going through. I did not have to transfer my case as it was approved before the incident, I know some here from Syria did. Try contacting a lawyer. Try sending an email to Amman if they don't respond then try Ankara, the borders are perfectly clear, plus it an air travel anyway, try emailing the Embassy in Damascus for more guidance . There is an office in Damascus outside the embassy, they helped my fiancee with all of her paper work. Its called Al sanabel office, if you want i can give you their number.

I would really appreciate the phone number for that office. I am planning on sending my fiance all the paperwork he needs, but it would be great if someone could double check it before the interview...IF a consulate ever accepts our case!

I've emailed Beirut, Amman and Ankara. Beirut is giving me some hope because they said they would consider it. Still haven't heard back though. Amman flat out said no, and Ankara didn't respond at all. The Consulate in Damascus just says "sorry, keep trying." They also said they would see what could be done for K1s who have been rejected by other consulates, but that was almost 2 weeks ago and they haven't updated us with anything. Calling Damascus is absolutely useless...email is the only way I can manage to get any sort of response.

I guess my last option, as you said, is a lawyer. I'm hoping to get somewhere with Beirut first. I know there are other people who have had their petitions approved after the consulate closed, I'm curious what they are doing with this situation!

As of right now this guy can get you a tourist visa from Lebanon within 2 weeks, so I assume he has some contacts and should be able to help you out with the K1 transfer to Lebanon. Tell your fiancee in Syria to call him and meet with him and explain the situation, he has done this before and he is most likely doing it now.

Amman accepted the transfer! Thanks for the contact info for the office, my fiance will definitely check in there before he heads to Jordan for the interview.
