We didn't get the 797c in time due to being out of town and we missed what looks to be the biometrics appointment. On the paper is says if you fail to appear as scheduled your application will be considerd abandoned?? Does this mean we have to start over with the aos process or will they let us reschedule it? We just went ahead and checked the area on the letter to request a reschedule but it think that's for doing "before" the date not after. One person told me maybe we could just go ahead and go anyway and it should be ok, but the place is 5-6 hours away and I see that dont have a phone # to call them. What do ya'all recommend??

Thanks in advance,

Matthew

Go and get it done before they cancel your application and consider it abandoned.

There is usually a 2-3 week lead time from date of notice to appointment date. I question the wisdom of being out of town so long while waiting for this critical appointment. Having said that, call them now, and get on record that you want to reschedule.Biometrics only takes a few minutes and, in our case, the place was fairly empty when we got there. The issues are pulling up your records in the computer. If they can do this at any time, I would drive there yesterday and plead to be given a shot then and there. If there is a "window" that has come and gone, then showing up will be a waste of time. Maybe some one else can help here on that question.

What he said...

PLUS if they deny your AOS you can file a motion to re-open (I-290) for $585 which is less than a new filing and much faster.

DO NOT go out of town for extended periods until the green card is in your hand.

Make an infopass appointment, go there with your biometrics letter and hope for the best. If you do not you WILL be denied.

The reason we were gone is at he drop of a hat my job sent me to Memphis tn for 3-6 weeks. i went back after a few weeks to get mail and they had already sent the appointment letter and the time had passed. Im working 7-12 hour night shifts non stop. no days off. im thinking to go to the local uscis office here in memphis tn and see what can be done. Anyone know if they do biometrics at the Memphis office? If I "need" to I will make the 9 hour round trip drive to Birmingham (my home state and not sleep. Ill look into the infopass and also make calls in the morning.

Blessings,

Matthew

Biometrics are usually done at a USCIS Application Support Center, and not a regular USCIS field office.

Check here to find the closest one:

True but many are 1 in the same, our local office here is.

Went to uscis/ASC Memphis and they did the biometrics no problem!! Just had to explain why the appointment was missed. Thank you all for your help and input and Thank you God!

Good news! If you must go out of town for extended times make sure someone gets your mail and notifies you of things.
