Is this visa right for us?

My fiance and I were considering applying for a k1 visa, but are now wondering if the k3 (or CR1) is more appropriate for us. We do however have a lot of quiestions about it.

The most important ones being.. how long does it take? is it more expensive than the k1 visa? how soon after I enter the country would I be able to work? It all seems really confusing online and it is way too soon to hire an attorney, so I really hope you can take the time to help us out. What would my status be after I enter the country?

I'm from Argentina and he is from Wisconsin.

From the basis of your post, you are contemplating the CR-1. Forget K3.

how long does it take?

Processing time at USCIS from NOA1 to NOA2 is the same. CR-1 petitions have to go through NVC processing. If managed properly, that will only take a few weeks. Right now, the biggest wait at the NVC is having a case number assigned to the file.

is it more expensive than the k1 visa?

After total costs from start to finish, it's less.

how soon after I enter the country would I be able to work?

On a CR-1, right away.

What would my status be after I enter the country?

Conditional permanent resident. Filing for removal of conditions would have to take place within 90 days of the date of your two year anniversary of arrival to the US.
