Visa approval was a breeze. This review is geared more towards petitioners who are present at their fiance's interview at the US Embassy Manila. Got there

at 5:15 am and was out by 11:15. The hardest part was the wait. Other than that, just follow instructions and if you're required document are complete, it will

be a breeze. It did help that I was there as it was more conversational than an interview.

First call for preliminary interview with a younger Filipino gentleman:

- right away he recognized I was the petitioner and stated towards Patty that this will be an easy interview since I was there.

- he only took the I-134, tax return/ITR for 2010, W-2, verification of employment letter, looked at some pictures

The questions asked of Patty were :

1. When and how did you first start communicating

2. When was the first time you met in person

3. What did Dindo do for a living

Second call was biometrics

Third call was with the Consular Officer who was an American gentleman probably in his late 40's or early 50's:

- we stood there for a couple of minutes while he reviewed the file and the notes from the preliminary interview

- then, he swore us in

The questions asked by the Consul were:

1. Did you you travel to another country before (which Patty did travel to China in 2004)

2. Were you ever married before and do you have any children

3. Did your fiancee send any money remittance

Questions asked of me (petitioner):

1. Where do you work

2. Were you married before

3. Do you have children, how old are they, and are they out of the house

The rest was more like a conversation:

- he noticed I was with USAA (my banking institution) and I told him yes because I was in the military

- he asked my what branch and I told him I did 20 years in the USAF

- he asked me what rank I retired as and I told him I retired as an E-7

- he asked what our plans were for a wedding

It took about 5 minutes tops with the CO and then the magic words: Congratulations your visa is approved!

If you scheduled your interview online and already indicated where to deliver or pick of the visa, then, they

didn't even make us fill up another form for the 2Go carrier.

Thank you Lord and thank you for this website and all the members who have paved the way and continue to pave the way!

Dindo

Could you tell me if in your experience you think it would be worth flying to Manila to be there at the interview with my fiancee ?

First, I was unsure as the petitioner if I could even get in there.

and

Do you think it was beneficial as a petitioner to be there?

I would be flying from the East Coast and that is a brutal 24 hour flight but worth considering if you think it is all that helpful.

Was it absolutely worth it to me? Yes! Was it beneficial? Yes, absolutely! Is it really necessary to be there? No. Plenty of other fiance's

have done the interview all by themselves and did just fine. I went there because I wanted to be there and was lucky enough to be able

to go. So, it is really up to you. I wish you well on your journey!
