Sorry to hear that things didn't work out with you and your ex. The long distance relationship stuff was certainly a true test of strength, both as individuals and as a couple. Glad to hear that when that door shut, another more successful door opened for you though. Yes babies are great because they stay where you leave them. Toddlers are a whole different kettle of fish although I obviously love mine to death.

Oh, I'm not, lol. We had been together for many years, and while I did care for him deeply, I turned down his marriage proposal several times, lol. I guess after living together for so long, I finally wore down and said yes, because it seemed like the natural progression of things. I came home to the US to get situated, and we basically grew apart...coupled with some Jerry Springer-esque issues thrown in there from him for added measure, lol. I think if it was meant to be, the distance would not have caused the strain it did. As painful as it was, I think I was dealing more with the wasted years even though I subconsciously knew it wasn't going to work out. A red flag should have been when I got my NOA2, and was actually depressed. I remember saying '#######? so soon?' Yeah, that should have said something. hahahahah

As for the babies...I am learning that lesson now...Nicholas is 11 mos old and quite the explorer. Now when he was younger, I'd always think 'this will get easier, just wait until he can sit up on his own' and now I'm learning how completely wrong I was ;)

I am frightened for the upcoming year...in just the past month, Nick has done so many things, that I realize now he's going to give us a run for our money, and we'd better be on extra high alert.

Care to share piccies of the little one???

As for me, still married, living in the U.S. at present -- felt the earthquake today too, whoa! -- in the house we bought last year. I really thought we'd wind up in the UK, but sadly DH's mum passed away and the idea of going back became too painful so we settled here for a while. The long-term plan is to have a home in both places, and we're halfway there so I guess we're not doing too badly!

We also had a gorgeous baby boy last December, now he's 9 months old and everyone's darling.

That is great news!!! Well, not about your MIL passing...I am sorry to hear that. Perhaps in time when your hubby feels healed enough, you will get that second house and go back and forth! How was the adjustment to living back here? It took me a while to not feel like a fish out of water, or a woman without a country, lol.

What is your baby's name? Care to share pictures? We have a baby thread here as well - it's fun to talk about the challenges of new-motherhood/fatherhood (*ahem* Mark...if you're so inclined).

Anita,

My daughters name is Isabella. I also have a 16 year old Step-Daughter named Rebekah so life in our house is NEVER dull. I'm going to try and throw up a link to some pics from our recent trip to Disney. Not sure if it will work or not. I'll take a peek into the baby thread to see if there is anything I can be useful or helpful with.

Mark :)
