Do you guys remember the story of the husband that came home early from playing cards, caught his wife in the truck with another dude and when she yelled rape, he shot the guy?

Come to find out, the woman wasn't being raped at all and the dude was her lover. They charged the woman and locked her up. The husband wasn't charged.

Woman Who Cried Rape is Sentenced

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008[/url]In Texas yesterday, Tracy Denise Roberson was sentenced to two to five years, after being convicted Friday of involuntary manslaughter.

She wasn’t the one who killed Devin LaSalle — it was her husband Darrell Roberson who fired four shots into LaSalle’s truck, killing him — but the shooting occurred after Darrell came home to find LaSalle and a near-naked Tracy in LaSalle’s truck in their driveway. Tracy said that LaSalle was trying to rape her, and Darrell shot at him as he was trying to drive off.

Robert was originally charged with murder, but those charges were dropped — and manslaughter charges filed against Tracy — once evidence of the affair (including a text message in which Tracy invited LaSalle to come over that evening) came to light.

At trial, Tracy claimed that Darrell killed LaSalle in a jealous rage. Despite that unsuccessful defense, Darrell told a local television station today that Tracy should have been sentenced to no more than probation, explaining: “Tracy had an affair on me, that’s all she’s guilty of … and when she did what she did and caused what happened, that’s just what that is.”

Apparently General Tso (of spicy chicken fame) had his testicles badly burned as a child and went on a rampage all throughout China.

I do not know what that's like and honestly cannot for the life of me comprehend why anyone would. I simply cannot fathom keeping myself in a dangerous situation and the psychological problems that must be present to continue living amongst that cycle of violence.

I knew a woman who was a battered wife for something like 12 years. She wrote a book about it and told me if I read it I would better understand why she stayed for so long. I never read the book because, honestly, I've never seen a need to understand the why behind it.

To me, it's an easy fix. If an adult person chooses to stay in that situation than whatever happens to them is their own responsibility and I don't feel sorry for them or empathetic to their plight.
