As much as I don't want to pay for Texas' crumbling schools and public infrastructure, I think it sets a bad prescedent to allow a bunch of derps to secede. I think a better use for Texas is to put a giant wall around it and use it as a penal colony. It would have the dual effect of also being a buffer to keep many illegal immigrants out of the real U.S.

does that mean you'd also support doing the same around san diego?

Don't get off the highways in California. Most of our secondary roads suck, well, except for Marin County. They do a pretty good job there.

The only bad road I can think of is 880 in oakland. I've driven alot of roads in Marin, Sonoma, Napa, and Contra Costa...and they seem ok.

Solano is a bit iffy.

a state can legally secede peacefully as long as the overwhelming majority of the rest of the union agrees to such.

There was a movement in Alaska to leave the union and the Feds took care of that.

Joe Vogler

Vogler disappeared under suspicious circumstances in May 1993,[8] just weeks before he was scheduled to give a speech to the United Nations on Alaskan independence, sponsored by the government of Iran.[9][10] Convicted thief Manfried West confessed to having murdered Vogler the following year in what he described as an illegal plastic explosive sale gone bad.[8] West, trying to recant, later said the confession was a lie, but this was before Vogler's body had been discovered.[11] Vogler's remains were discovered in a gravel pit east of Fairbanks in October 1994 following an anonymous tip.[8] They had been wrapped in a blue tarp secured with duct tape and were identified through fingerprint analysis.[8] Manfried West was convicted of murdering Joe Vogler and is serving an 80 year sentence.[10]

In the opinion of AIP Chair Lynette Clark and other AIP leaders, however, Vogler's death reflected more than a dispute with West. Clark has stated, "He was executed."[12] She notes that Vogler was about to appear before the United Nations to address the issue of Alaskan independence: "The United States government would have been deeply embarrassed. And we can't have that, can we?"[12] There was also speculation that as an aging gold miner, he was merely viewed as an easy target for robbery. Although this theory has come up over the years, it was never validated.

As he had publicly promised on numerous occasions, Vogler was buried in Dawson City, Yukon, Canada, fulfilling his wish that he not be buried under the American flag. His second wife, Doris Louise, who died of cancer in January 1992, is buried next to him.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

just remember, the US unemployment rate would look A LOT worse without Texas.

Yep, Rick has done a bang job of propping up gubmint jobs in the Lone Star state - fully one out of three jobs created in TX under his watch are gubmint jobs - while publicly blasting, well, gubmint. But hey, he's the guy that wants to be more relevant on the national stage by saying that he wants to make the office he's running for, well, less relevant. There's nothing quite as entertaining as a shizophrenic running for President.

The county roads have gotten bad over the last two years, or so. They are trying, but between the pot holes, and the gravel kicked up by the trucks, it's putting a lot of wear and tear on my truck. The wet winter did a number, just as they were recovering from the last wet year. The state does a good job keeping the highways up, if you don't mind all the widening and improvements, but secondary and neighborhood roads are a mess. There is one road I take out to Dillon Beach from Valley Ford. The road is insanely beat up, but as soon as you cross the Marin County line, the road is freshly resurfaced.

If you see a man raping the love of your life, is OK to kill him?

It's hard to tell but I think this is :ot: . I think some clarification might be in order.

Is he hurting her or just raping her? Is "the love of your life" sometimes referred to as "Man's best friend" ?

Did this man file the proper rape permit paperwork ahead of time?

How would you know for sure it was rape?

Yes.

Not always. In some places it is 0k to kill the love of your life after somebody raped her.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Do you guys remember the story of the husband that came home early from playing cards, caught his wife in the truck with another dude and when she yelled rape, he shot the guy?

Come to find out, the woman wasn't being raped at all and the dude was her lover. They charged the woman and locked her up. The husband wasn't charged.
