But still, I don't see why Perry would want to become the President of a Nation that he is not particularly proud of.

Perhaps for the same reason that this man, Lucien Bouchard, formed and led the Bloc Quebecois, and served in the Canadian House of Commons as leader of the "loyal" Official Opposition for 6 years.

That is to say, he founded a party devoted to one mission: seceding Quebec from Canada. And he chose to do so on the federal stage, by swearing an oath as a sitting MP (Member of Parliament) and as Her Majesty's leader of the Opposition in Parliament (analogous to swearing loyalty to the Constitution in the US).

Hypocrisy, much?

If you see a man raping the love of your life, is OK to kill him?

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt

Then he would be required to bring them back into the fold, as part of his job as President. Either that, or stand trial for treason. You know those Texans, so delusional.

a state can legally secede peacefully as long as the overwhelming majority of the rest of the union agrees to such.

As much as I don't want to pay for Texas' crumbling schools and public infrastructure, I think it sets a bad prescedent to allow a bunch of derps to secede. I think a better use for Texas is to put a giant wall around it and use it as a penal colony. It would have the dual effect of also being a buffer to keep many illegal immigrants out of the real U.S.

just remember, the US unemployment rate would look A LOT worse without Texas. Not to mention the loss of energy, agriculture, medical research, technology, etc...

Like it or not, the US needs Texas. Not the other way around.

How do you figure that out? If Texas secedes from the union, they won't have the luxury of a military, or any sort of income. Gasp, they would have to increase taxes to pay for their crumbling infrastructure.

Not exactly. Texas does have specific sections of the military that are controlled by the Governor of the state.

Income? Uh, taxes wouldn't exactly have to be raised at all. Instead of the Federal taxes going to the pig of the United States, they'd go to Austin instead.

"crumbling infrastruture?"

Texas has the best roads in the United States already in case you hadn't noticed. But thanks for playing anyway!

You got to be kidding me. I live in an upscale part of town with roads filled with potholes. Most highways in Texas still have only 2 lanes with stop lights hanging from a wire when you cross a small town. Roughly half the CR (county roads) are paved with gravel. Most roads in Texas do not have pavements. And these are just the roads in Texas, lets not even talk about the other infrastructure like stormwater runoff, education, urban development, traffic girdlock, public transportation, etc.
