i'm new here. I'm sponsoring my husband from pakistan and i'm a US citizen. I just recently 2 wks ago got interviewed here locally for the I-130 petition and they approved my petition and i've received 2 notices one from the local office and one from the NVC that they approved the petition and now my case is being sent to the NVC. I'm curious how long the rest of this process can take. I submitted the I-864 affidavit of support in person in my interview so that should be one step out of the way. Is most of our wait over since the petitions been approved...that itself was approx. 5-6 months wait. I've read online that if your a US citizen then you dont have to wait for a visa number.

You don't have to wait for visa number and the process took us 7 months from filing the i 130 until interview..the long process is AP which lasts for us so far 2 months with no word on his visa yet... and there are a few that get visas within a few weeks to a month and many between 3-6 months and some that last for a year or more.

05/20/2011 Medical Appt/passed
06/15/2011 Interview result AP
06/21/2011 Submitted requested docs..under review
07/25/2011 CO called did phone interview result: PENDING MANDATORY AP/CO told us they have to do namechecks

03/07/2013 Case returned to USCIS waiting for NOIR/reaffirmation

04/18/2013 USCIS received case for review

08/19/2013 Received NOIR to respond by 9/18/2013

9/9/2013 Responded to NOIR/USCIS received documents awaiting response

9/20/2013 USCIS reaffirmed sent to embassy

1/04/14 Case opened for review

8/31/15 Interview- no questions visa approved on the spot

9/8/15 visa status issued

9/10/15 visa received

9/19/15 POE Charlotte

yeah we had interview in islamabad it was long for my husband and they put us in ap and requested another document once that was complete they said he was going to put him in name checks that was july 25 so thats where we are now just waiting n waiting
