NO unless you prove that there was hardship that can't you be able to go there and see her or if there is a tradition or religious requirement that prohibit from seeing each other before marriage.

Good luck

Me and my fiancee haven't meet in person yet,but we are planning to be engaged within 2-3 months on his next vacation.my fiancee works in asia but as of now its his vacation for a few weeks and spending it with his mom in the states,my question is that, is it possible for him to submit I-129F at the USCIS while he is in the US even we have not meet yet? does anybody know what are the requirements in filing I-129F? please let me know if you have any idea..thanks much

There is no way around the requirement to meet in person, at least once, prior to filing. You say in your original post that he is currently on vacation in the States visiting his mother. What on earth is stopping you from travelling from where you are in the states to where he is IN THE SAME COUNTRY to fulfill the most basic of requirements before filing your I-129F ? It's been many years since my wife and I went through this process but it still amazes me that folks would refer to people that they have never even stood in the same room as, as a Fiancee !!

Just my 2c worth.

It is possible to send I-129F now even you guys have not met in person yet BUT you will get an RFE for that or worst case is they can deny it cos the main requirement for I-129F is you guys have met in person within the last 2 years before the filing.

Here is the guide in filing I-129F http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide

Actually the above is misleadingly false. You will not get an RFE but a denial of the petition becuase you did not meet in person prior to the filing of the petition. If you send in documentation showing that you did meet after the filing date, then the petition will be denied and you would have to do it all over again, including the fee.

Go meet, generate evidence of the meeting and then file.

There is not time limit for the meeting. You can see each other for 10 seconds in an airport, take a picture and then return.

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

Meeting in the last two years is a major requirement. I would suggest spending some time learning the requirements so when you do meet for vacation you already know about keeping motel receipts , plane ticket stubs, take lots of pics together there is alot to be getting ready for. Jim.

I could be wrong but this is straight from the instructions " 4. Declaration of how you met in person in the last two years. This should be a single typed page attachment regarding question 18 of the I-129F. Make sure to sign and date it. " I believe that date will need to be earlier than the file date. Jim.

how does one know you want to marry said person / at the very least have a relationship / move to a different country for them before you have even met?

Some things baffle me, or are folks doing k1 for other reasons? If so please don't start threads like stating 'we haven't met yet.'

It just sounds rediculous

K1 visa requirements aside, I would suggest that you two first meet and spend some time together, before planning to get engaged and married. just my two cents.

exchanging emails and messages, calling each other are far different from living together in one roof. Meet him first and then take it from there.
