My fiance would like to change her first name once here (not sure about her last name yet). For example, imagine changing from Alexander to Alex. Her only purpose is to make her name more English friendly and she prefers the contraction everybody uses anyway.

We're not going to do anything until she is here, our objective is to be together asap, and a name change during that process would likely delay things. Much better to cut through red tape together. :)

What do folks recommend? Should she file for AOS with her current name, and then in the two years of condition GC, change her first name? Or, change it asap (if the county office allows a non-GC holder to change names)? Any other suggestions? Wait until citizenship 3 years down the road?
