I have an Irish driver's license. What is the process for getting an state driver's license in your new home state? Is there an expedited process if you are fully licensed driver from Europe?

First off, it appears that you MUST apply at the DMV office in Concord if you have a visa or an LPR.

You have to prove NH residency, and it does appear that you'll have to take the written and road test in addition to the vision test. I don't see any sort of fast-track process that would allow you to bypass the testing.

If you're just visiting, and not going to be there for more than 60 days, you can use an International Driver's License to drive in New Hampshire. I don't know if an Irish driver's license would work...it should. (I drove in the UK and Ireland on an Oklahoma state driver's license.

My insurance rates will go DOWN as soon as we are married even though she has a UK license. She is scared to death of having to drive on the wrong side of the road. :-)
