Pawlenty Drops 2012 Presidential Bid

Tim Pawlenty announced an end to his presidential candidacy Sunday after what he called a "disappointing" third place finish in the Ames, Iowa, straw poll.

The former Minnesota governor said he had hoped to get a jolt from the preference poll that is an early indicator of a candidate's potential strength in the primary season.

"I'm ending my campaign for president," Pawlenty told ABC's "This Week," noting that he wished the scenario had been different but voters were looking for something else.

I respect that. He saw his chances and took action.

I remember in 08 Huckabee stayed in an extra month when it was mathematically impossible for him to win against McCain. His calculator must have been broke. He said he believed in miracles.

I was hoping that he'd win the nomination, and pick Virgil Goode as his running mate. The Goode and Pawlenty ticket would be unstoppable.

They'd be a formidable contender, but not necessarily unstoppable. Had Mike Huckabee ever joined his forces with Dwight Eisenhower, I'd venture that in an all time historical matchup Mike&Ike would have given Goode&Pawlenty a run for their money :whistle:

I stand corrected. Now I have newfound hope for Michele Bachmann, she's already named a running mate if she gets the nomination. She's picked Rep. Michael Turner of Ohio. If their campaign catches fire, Obama is going to have a hard time stopping the Bachmann Turner Overdrive.

GOP Congressman Pete Olson of the Texas 22nd District hails from Sugar Land, TX. Now imagine for a moment that Herman Cain surges forth and picks Rep Olson to be his running mate on the Sugar Cain Express. Crazier things have happened, no?
