Hello,

Here is my situation. I am currently in school part time and working full time. About 3 months ago, I changed jobs. Now my family size will be a family of 3. So according to the 2011 Poverty Guidelines for a family of 3 the amount I would need to make is $23,162 per year.

So my question is, since I just changed jobs and my check stubs dont currently show that amount, how will they figure what I am going to make? I plan on getting a letter from my employer to show what my annual income will be and all that.

But I dont know if I should still get a co-sponser just in case? I have asked a few people and they keep backing out on me...So I am trying to see if I can just try and do it myself.

I just dont know what they are really looking at. Are they looking at the tax transcripts, or are they looking at the paycheck stubs and looking at the year to date amount?

Anyone have advice for me please?

You also need to include three years of tax returns, which reflects your income of the past three years. You mentioned you just changed jobs, so does that mean with your new job you meet the requirements? or you still don't? If you do, I would submit copies of all your check stubs received to date, with a letter from your employer verifying your employment and how much you will be making per year.

You asked what they are looking at, well they are looking at you being able to take care of your responsibilities and your beneficiary's once he is here.

Good luck!

If you check stubs and employer letter support your income claim you should be in good shape. It's ok that the Year To Date earnings on the check stub do not show a total income for 2011. It's the annualized earnings based on your check stubs that will matter.

Thank you so much....Oh I mean what exactly are they looking at more, the tax returns or the current income....But I have found that they are looking more at the current income....

For me, "should be O.K." isn't enough to comfortably go into something as pivotal as a deciding interview --

Most will recommend that if you are not absolutely certain your financial situation will be sufficient SECURE A COSPONSOR. Even if you don't use them, at least it can be held in reserve.

I went in unemployed with $170K in cash, and still had a cosponsor lined up in the event the CO simply did not care for the savings in the bank.

17-Jan-10 - Filed K-1

26-Apr-10 - Approved

06-May-10 - Entered POE

24-May-10 - Married

22-Jul-10 - Filed AOS

24-Sep-10 - Biometrics Appointment

18-Nov-10 - Approved

29-Nov-10 - Received Green Card
