...but it's 'not the main thrust' of the trip.....

ok... wrong choice of words.

the hope is everything goes smoothly and she can come back along with me. However, we both know anything can happen. So we are just hopeful after everything so far, things will go well in the end. As many pitfalls, hard roads, and issues I have gone with. I am not expecting an easy road. My life has not been easy this last year. I feel like I am either coming to the end of a second act and starting to hit the positive third act where everything resolves.... or this is where everything comes crashing down....

Now everything rests on her. the medical, the CFO, the embassy. I wil be iwth her to help esae her nerves.... but it is now her decision to make. the main thurst of the trip is what DOES she want? This is where now everything has been done and it is her time to decide. This is where reality sets in, no more dreaming. America or bust.......

IK HOU VAN JOU, MARK

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!

Shouldn't this have been resolved prior to the I-129F, plane/hotel reservations, medical exam, embassy interview? What if she decides it's not for her?

Hope all goes well for you!

I hope this worked....for what it's worth..and probably not worth much but.....

You who are on the road

must have a code

that you can live by

And so become yourself

because the past is just a good-bye

Teach your children well

their father's hell did slowly go by

And feed them on your dreams

The one they picks

the one you'll know by

Don't you ever ask them why

if they told you, you will cry

So just look at them and sigh

and know they love you

And you of tender years

can't know the fears

that your elders grew by

And so please help them with your youth

they seek the truth before they can die

Teach your parents well

their children's hell will slowly go by

And feed them on your dreams

The one they picks

the one you'll know by

Don't you ever ask them why

if they told you, you would cry

So just look at them and sigh

and know they love you

Perhaps it's just me, but I take it to mean she is nervous about the interview, and possibly about the move to the US. Most are. Excited to be united, nervous about being rejected by USEM, and unsure about the move to a new culture/country. At least, I HOPE that's all it is, just the normal stuff...

as far as I know she is very excited to have the embassy interview. She is nervous that she might say or do something wrong. Also, she could just change her mind. the enormity of everything going on. We will be flying to manila, and spending time in manila with her parents there. She is excited I am coming back. It is just that this is no longer my choice but now her choice. What it boils down to is her. I have done everything possible I can, but now my hands are off the wheel. I can take her to the medical, to the embassy, to the CFO. But I cannot do things for her anymore in this process. this is a complete lifestyle change for her. She is excited, but I know she is nervous. All I can do is reassure her I love her. Show her how important she is to me by being there for her.

update: my manager has taken my suggestion on another person and hopefully he will be starting soon. My manager is trying to work it out so I can go. At least, things are looking brighter...... just hope that is not a train.

  • 2 weeks later...

A common-sense reminder from the U.S. Embassy Manila:

Do not finalize arrangements for travel to the United States, dispose of properties, or resign from your job until a visa has been issued and delivered to you.

My link.

Again, I agree with Tahoma.

Many have gone against this advice. Some have been successful (lucky). But many cases have not been...thus, the need to issue this reminder.

I am to have a person start work on Monday Aug 29. I leave on Sept 1. it is going to be a crazy week.

my fiancee and I realize that there is a significant chance she may be left behind. that things may not work out at the embassy and we may have problems. Right now ner NBI is an issue. She filed for back in July and we still do not have it yet. Hoping it comes next week, but we may spend time in the NBI office in manila on Monday Sept 5.

She has no job (lives at home with parents), she owns nothing (apart form a small boat with her family), and has nothing to do but wait on visa. The ticket can be moved to come to the USA if things do not work out. (will cost me re-booking, but that is not bad.) We also tried to look for the unexpected or other issues along the way. Our goal is to complete the journey on this trip. However, we know things can happen and the visa can be held up after approval. We will just take one step at a time.

The only risk I have is her ticket back and the one week in manila. If St. Lukes changes things, If we get her visa and cannot get the CFO sticker or pay the travel tax at the airport. These things affect the outcomes as well. I have tried to plan for average outcome. However, there are exceptions.

The rest of the trip is her embassy, and our spending time together.
