I have a question about starting a new job in the middle of the K1 process. The company I work for is not so good. I have been wanting to find a position with another company for quite some time. I have not actively pursued it though because of this K1 visa process. I was afraid if I found another job and had not been on it for long it would be a red flag and hurt the chances for getting the visa approved. We are at the stage where we have submitted packet 3 to the embassy and are waiting to hear back from them. Do you think taking another position would hurt at this point?

I doubt it, financial support is shown through check stubs and yearly tax forms. The real affidavit of support is when you do your AOS. Just show the interviewer at your k-1 interview that you have income and pay taxes. Make sure you are above the poverty line, but taking a new position wont hurt you.

Also you can have other supporters if you dont meet the poverty guidelines

If the salaries are equivalent and you're well above the 125% percent I wouldn't worry.

Thanks for the responses. I am a software engineer and I make above the poverty guidelines. I just keep seeing opportunities come up and I pass them by because I am afraid of any red flags that might come up. I just hope that we get this interview soon and get approved and get on with our lives.

It is not a problem at all. Do what is best for you and your family
