hi, kindly help me figure out what i am in for.

i live in lagos Nigeria and my husband filed for my immigrant visa since April 2010 and i have been to the consulate 5 times already for this purpose as shown below:

March 7th 2011-----was asked to return May 31st with US call records

May 31st 2011-----was asked to return July 6th because the embassy was under construction

July 6th 2011-----was asked to return to the embassy with a renewed medical record

July 13th 2011-----submitted the medical record and was given a written instruction to pick up my visa at the VFS on July 20th 2011.

July 20th 2011----got a phone call and was told to return to the embassy September 22nd 2011 with my old international passport

additional info---- my fist 2 passports have error in my date of birth, which after my wedding, i corrected in the passport i submitted at the embassy(still bearing my maiden name).

i wonder if the issue is the change in my date of birth or the fact that i got a new epassport after my wedding with my maiden name.

i am personally not an advocate of long distance marriages and my husband and i have been living apart since we got married in 2009, which is not helping our married life.

I would have your husband call the embassy and ask what the hold up is.

We know first hand how much nonsense goes on at the Lagos embassy. So sorry to hear of your hardships. Have your husband be there with you on the next scheduled interview. This is particularly important, since you both have been apart for two years. DON'T give the CO, a chance to deny you, bases on lack of "bona fide relationship", or lack of time spent with each other. With your husband there, this will give you the support you need to face them on your next interview, as well as strengthen your case. Plus give you time with your husband.

Good luck with all the issues you are dealing with. God be with you. My prayers will be with you.

A very important question for you: Did you ever apply for a visa with any of you previous passports that has a diferent date of birth from your current passport? If so then they are definitely looking into the discrepancy about your date of birth and you could possibly be banned. I know this because it happened to my cousin.

Good Luck

yes,i applied for visiting visa 2 years ago with one of the old passports, but it was denied. The mistake in my date of birth was from the passport office and they retrieved the passport without any visa stamp with reason that i am not allowed to keep 2 active e-passports. y would i want to reduce my age by one year? what would i possibly gain from that? is ur cousin male or female? how is he/she coping?

That is all's well. but sometimes GOD ask us to do some of the work ourselves. If there was an issue with the DOB in the orginal passport, why didn't you correct it then. Mistakes left unattended, tends to follow us for life. God can't un-do the past.

Good luck, I hope it's only a small issue and they will issue you a visa.

Well same thing happened to my cousin (Male) but he was penalized because they stated that he should never have used the passport if he knew his DOB was wrong. All the same, everyone's case is different so just pray that it all goes well. My cousin was approved at the interview and was to pick up his passport the following week, when he went to pick it up it wasn't there so he went to the embassy and that was when they informed him of the issue. After asking him to bring documentation to prove his age which he did they still banned him so be prayerfull and if possible get a lawyer.

That's exactly what they told my cousin and that he should contact them after 60 days by then they should have completed their investigation. When he was told to come back they now banned him for life so please pray very well. He was banned for misrepresentation because his identity could not be confirmed, his is in the process of applying for a waiver of inadmissibility so good luck.
