Hello everyone,

I am filing for K-3 and I am confused about question 17 and 18 on Form I-129F. The example form on this site suggests leaving the boxes for those questions unchecked. I checked No for question 17 and Yes for question 18. Does question 17 ask if we are releated by marriage? (In that case we are since she is my wife). And does question 18 apply only to K-1 Visa so that's when you should check any box? I put N/A in both questions but it just didn't look right to leave the boxes unchecked. I also put N/A in question 19 since we didn't meet through a marriage broker but the example left it blank. Please let me know asap. Thank you in advance.

Tony

it would be helpful if we knew what the questions are exactly, so we dont need to go back and forth to check the example and then to post.

Some of us have been here a while and don't even remember what the forms look like ;)

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card

PLEASE DO NOT PRIVATE MESSAGE ME OR EMAIL ME. I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT CURRENT US IMMIGRATION PROCEDURES!!!!!

Question 17. Is your fiance (e) related to you? Yes or No boxes (I checked No, I don't know if it's correct or if I need to leave the boxes unchecked.)

If you are related, state the nature and degree of relationship, e.g., third cousin or maternal uncle, etc.

(I put N/A as the form states for K-3.)

Question 18. Has your fiance (e) met and seen you within the two-year period immediately receding the filing of this petition? Yes or No boxes (I checked Yes, but I don't know if this question applies only to K-1)

Describe the cirmunstances under which you met. If you have not personally met each other, explain how the relationship was established. Explain also in detail any reasons you may have for requesting that the requirement that you and your fiance (e) must have met should not apply to you.

(I put N/A as the form also states for K-3)

And question 19 is the IMBRA question. Did you meet your fiance (e) or spouse through the services of an international marriage broker? Yes or No boxes (I checked No since we didn't meet through a marriage broker.)

If you answered yes, please provide the name of the international marriage broker and where the international marriage broker is located.

(I put N/A)

I am mainly concerned about Questions 17 and 18 as the example form on this site doesn't have the boxes checked.

I was just preparing mine yesterday, and I'm leaving the boxes unchecked because that's how I understood the instructions. It does look a bit funny, but I'm pretty sure that's what they want.

I have already checked those boxes, so instead of redoing the whole form, is it OK to just white out the x in the boxes? Or would it also be OK to leave the boxes checked?

The instructions and example forms are correct and that how these questions must be answered for K3. Leave them unchecked and write "N/A" below.

OK, I guess I should have left them unchecked. But is it OK to use white out just to erase the x in the boxes so I won't redo the whole form again?

Thats a computer fillable form. so I dont think it should be a problem filling it over. Its better to fill again than to use white-out. You dont wanna give them any chance to issue you an RFE.
