Since I work as an ESL instructor, I had the opportunity to attend a free (for me) training about becoming a citizen. And while I know it's going to be awhile before we'll be on that part of our journey, I thought it would be informative for me to go (and also to help my students).

Anyway, she really didn't tell me anything new, except for a few rules I didn't know about the citizenship process.

One thing she did say that I thought would be relevant on here was something about where you file. I know some people had talked about it earlier, to try and see if they could find some loophole into being able to file at the VSC. Well, she said college students ARE able to file in the state where they go to school. However, they are also aware of people trying to cheat the system, and file where their son goes to school, etc. Apparently the San Antonio office is faster than the Houston office, and they get peoplet trying to do that all the time. You don't get in trouble for doing it, but you will be processed at the office that handles cases from where you live.

Just thought I'd add that tiny bit of info!

timeline doesn't matter.
