I used directo unlimited call for almost 3 yrs now.before it is $55 a mos but now it's only 39.95 a mos..they will send a phone to your family that you can call..and it's unlimited talkin it's from pldt...what province are you in the philippines?

Thanks for the information. I live in Iloilo and they don't have a landline. They don't live by the main highway so its kinda difficult to get a landline in their area but they have cellphones so I'll check the website of Directo and consider it as an option.

Thanks everybody for the suggestions.

My parents live in the province and they don't have a landline, they can't get one due to their location. And internet service is really bad. The best choice for me is to call them using their cellphone. I use YM since they can receive it as a text message and they can reply whenever they receive it and its pretty slow.

I tried to use Onesuite before and the reception is very bad, the're is an echo and a delay on every response its not a very pleasant conversation since we barely can hear each other. My friend told me about magic jack but they need internet connection for it as i understand so it will not work for us.

Now that I have these information, I can choose the best company for me. I appreciate all the information you guys shared!

We have been using Globe Super US Direct for the past several weeks and it seems to work fine. The only thing we've noticed is you can get alot of busy signals as I guess it searches for a free line, but the signal is clear once you get through.

I'm super satisfied with MagicJack. It's not the best, we sometimes get a dropped calls or choppy signals but for $20 dollars a YEAR?

It's hard to pass... My wife always calls me on my cell phone. All the phone logs registered on my AT&T monthly statement, also MagicJack has phone logs too.

My husband used Skype before to call me on my cellphone but there's a delay and the whole experience was kinda annoying.

I tried http://tawagpinas.com. I called a cellphone and it worked great. No delays no echos. I will use it for now so I won't be tied up for a long time subscription. I can reload my account whenever the need to call them arise.

I use Tawagpinas.com for calling which includes call logs for 30 days. Every 30 days I print the logs. $0.12/minute landline and $0.14/minute Cell. If you decide this method is good for you, Please use my referral code - 6zpzz1. It has worked well for me. Call quality is good. Sometimes I have connection issues once the call is transferred to the Philippines system. If it says "all circuits busy now....." I just wait and the call goes through within a minute most of the time.

Hi!!I used tawagpinas and used your referral code. It worked great! Thanks for the info!

  • 5 months later...

I've been using www.americacalls.us for the last year and a half. They sent my wife a phone sim, that she put in her cell phone. I call a local number here in the U.S. and it rings to her phone, no internet required. It's $45 a month for unlimited minutes. I've been satisfied with the sound quality and the couple of times that I had a problem there was always a live person in customer service to assist me quickly.

I bought her a Magic Jack and set her up. Now she calls my cell phone here on a local number anytime she likes -- works great! INFORMATION: In the Philippines it is best to get her Globe WiMAX or a Tattoo plug-in that has the 3.5 Mb data offer (some islands don't get good reception with this). The WiMax is the best bang for the buck - I brought a wireless router and her family uses the system seamlessly.
