The dealership isn't picking up the tab? If you told the salesperson that you didn't want it there should be no issue. Even if it's in a kind of "gray area" as far as was it written down or not, they are making a huge blunder. No wonder people have such poor opinions of car dealers.

This is why when my dad called me in college and asking if I wanted the business I said no.

i'm tired of dealing with them about it - it's been a stressful enough week. this way they'll fix it and the wife will be happy.

and i can get some sleep.

I agree. The customer is in total control of the situation until the vehicle leaves the driveway. I have worked for and with several dealers, and generally management will do whatever it takes to get the customer to take delivery, including deal sweeteners like free seat covers, free maintenance, whatever isn't selling in accessories, etc.

Most manufacturers have Dealer Satisfaction Representatives. If the dealer managers and owners have the above attitude, call them. They will jump down the dealer's throat.

"dealer satisfaction representatives" are $7.50 employees who answer the phone at manufacturer. They will take down the details on the phone and send an email to the dealer. The email will go to dealership GM who will walk it over to the New Car Manager who already has been dealing with this for 3 days and will explain the situation if the GM doesn't already know about it.

If the customer signed the sales contract, took delivery of the car and left the lot with it end of story. If not the customer has a choice sign or walk away, which means waiting for the next production cycle ... if there is one for this model vehicle, or trying to locate one which probably is not an option and why the ordered it in the first place.

Bad policy when dealerships are being closed right and left. Enough customers leave with a bad taste in their mouth, and the dealership fails, or they do what the larger dealerships do: Hire any warm body willing to work on commission plus a meager salary, and when they run out of friends and relatives to sell cars to, cut them loose for not performing.

you and your spouse have 3 vehicles, one falling apart, and 2 good. you order a car and you absolutely love the front design of it. you specifically ask for no front license plate bracket (which would cost you an extra $15). The car is silver and now there's this ugly black thing right on your favorite spot of the car. You know it'll take another 2 months to get a new one made. It's costing you a small fortune and you want it to be perfect.

Would you return it or just take it?

pics ... or it didn't happen :P

alls well that ends well, right?

I hope you got a free hat, or mug for that $100. I bet you are sad to see that Camaro go away, or will be later, when your boy grows up and wants a classic muscle car.

I would have bought it for that price and sold it for $2300 to $3000 privately. Well, assuming there was nothing wrong with it mechanically and the exterior was in decent condition.

Call the stealership in about 2 weeks and ask if they have any older camoros for sale. Bet they have it listed for about $5,000.

I got $1600 for my wife's 1993 Geo Tracker with about 120k miles.

India, gun buyback and steamroll.

there was on both counts - hard to fix water leak on the engine that woulda called for pulling the engine to fix, and one tear on a seat, cracked dash, and the driver's window was acting up again (usually a $250 fix).

if thats the only negative. i'd have a lic. plate matching the brazil & american flags made & be done with it. or take the bracket of...its most likely just bolted or rivited to the frt. cover.

ETA: n/m i just caught up on the thread. :)
