Hello everyone,

Just got my green card (conditional one, will expire in 2 years). I want to apply green card for my dad and mom as well, who are living in China now. But don't know where and how to start it! Anyone would like to share something or direct me to some useful information. Highly appreciated!

you can't, residents cannot file for parents, only USC can.

once you become a US Citizen, and you have your Naturalization Certificate, you may file separatly for your parents.

you can read the guides, but you still have a few years to wait.

I'm guessing you got your green card through marriage with a USC.

It should take 3 years (counting from the date you get your GC, date listed on the car) for you to file N-400 to become a USC.

I believe you can file 3 months prior to the 3 year anniversary if you want it in a hurry.

It should then take another 4-5 months to get your USC certificate.

With that certificate you can file I-130 to petition your parents for a immigration visa to come to the US. Since they're your parents, they belong to the immediate relative category, which means you don't have to wait a VISA number to be available. I'm guessing the entire process shouldn't take more than 1 year.

Once they get the visa approve, they can come to the US and shortly after they'll get a greencard.

For details, I'd advise you to check the official website. hope this helps!

You are getting a good one! LOL dancin5hr.gif
