Hello guys!

I've been selected for further processing in the DV2012 program. I completed the forms and on July 17 sent them by FedEx to Kentucky Consular Center. I'm from Jordan (Asia) and my case number is just below 62000. On what basis do KCC work? Do i really have any chance since my # is about 62,000 while the available DV are 55,000? How long does it usually take KCC to respond?

Thanks in advance.

You will wait until your number becomes current ( if it does ) you can check here Visa Bulliten

They select more than the 55k because many people doesn't read the instructions and miss the requirements so they get denied or they decide the US economy is so bad they don't want to come. When your number is current you will be allowed to proceed.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

You wait until the number is bigger than yours. That will mean that numbers less than that are being worked.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

You'll want to follow the visa bulletin at travel.state.gov website - there are instructions on how to subscribe so you receive it in your email.

They have upcoming one for DV2011 for September (which is the last month when DV2011 winners can get a visa): http://www.travel.state.gov/visa/bulletin/bulletin_5542.html

If you click on the above link you'll see that for most regions it has CURRENT written - it means numbers are current and whoever has a number should be processed (when it shows a number that means visas are available to the numbers BELOW that number) until they reach the cutoff of visas available -- it CAN happen even before the end of September.

Also, you can email Kentucky (email is in your confirmation letter) and ask if they have received your paperwork. Don't forget to include your DV number, Date of Birth, Name and country as a selectee.

Good luck!

Thank you but bear with me please. So technically my only chance would be in September 2012 and i won't hear any thing from KCC until then? OR does it means that since my number is 62,000 and there's 55,000 spot my turn will come if only 7,000 where found ineligible? which can happen soon?

You will probably be very near where the cut off is. So I expect this time next year you will be pacing the floor. Sorry I can't say the yes you will get a chance but I would not be suprised if you did.

Actually, it's 50000 - 5000 goes to NICARA Act through FY 2012 (this started back in 2000). Yes, I am afraid you will have to follow closely visa bulletin to see if you will be granted interview/visa. It can't be predicted how many will qualify or not - I've seen a lot of rejections as people send in papers and do the interview when they're not eligible - one such case was on this board recently.

You can hear from KCC if you sent the paperwork in - you can send them an email to see if they received it. Also, the KCC would schedule you for interview as they know how PD numbers in visa bulletin go - so if interview letter before end of September 2012, you have a shot at it. Normally KCC will send interview letter a month before.
