Well, if you underlined the word DO instead of ALL, you would see that it was a question and the appropirate answer would have been NO and not a rant! You are as sensitive as all woman... oOOPS ? Let me rephrase that. You are as sensitive of at least 65% of the women I have known in my life. Lol. Don't be so sensitive.

Yup.... You're trolling!

Back to the topic of expensive dental work... While we in Canada do have free health care, we don't have free dental work, those of us without supplemental care often don't get much care at all. I know I spend a fortune just getting cleanings done, braces and cosmetic surgery would be out of the question! I'm curious as to how much more or less expensive it is in the US, as the quoted implant cost of about 4000$ seems about spot on. Anyone in the know what the average costs of cleanings and xrays and fillings??

I know my son needed a tooth capped and it cost me roughly around the same amount here several years ago, so some kind of plan is something I'm definitely looking at.

Funny how so many American dentists practice in Mexico and Costa Rica, I know the costs of implant surgery there are quite a bit less, a friend of mine went to Mexico for a week and had 6 implants at a fraction of the cost they would have here. Same procedure and US trained dentist, he practices in the US, Mexico and Costa Rica, different times of the year... I'd bet all his patients only see him in the US for regular cleanings and follow him for surgeries!

yeah the title change was needed.. Though I am not sure what people found so weird about the general topic.. I would hope someone reading this topic would take away this: If you are bringing your guy/girl over and they need dental and/or medical treatment it makes good financial sense for them to have it done before they make the journey.

I would include in that some possible elective surgeries such as LASIC..

I totally agree with your comment. Besides me having braces right now, I got LASIK at the end of last year. I used to wear glasses, and contact lenses while studying in the USA, and let me tell you, I was absolutely tired of them. Of course it would have cost me a lot more than what it cost me to get the LASIK here in Colombia. I only paid 1.700.000 COP --> 850USD Aproximately for 20/20 Vision ;) USA can't beat that!!!

Thumbs up for those who have that smart economical thinking, and mostly for those who appreciates the fact that in third world countries you can find excellent health professionals who can do an excellent job withouth taking any medical risks.

That's right. My fiance was also planning to have LASIK done next year when we get back to the Philippines.

All of these prices are as of 8/12/2011 and they were done by a reputable dentist in Cebu.

Filings- 700 Peso - That is $ 16.00 dollars.

XRay - 1,000 Peso That's $ 23.00 in US currency.

Tooth Extraction - 500 Peso - That's $ 11.00 US currency.

Wow. Things are so cheap there. In America I bet you that it is likely four to five times these prices, at my dentist anyway. I met the dentist/surgeon. I believe she is very good.

Those are the typical prices of dental procedures here in the Philippines. You did a good job finding a decent dentist who doesn't overcharge. :D

After I became involved with the woman I now love, I asked her how was her teeth? She told me she needed some work. We decided that the cost of dental care would be 1/4th it would be in the U.S.. When in the Philippines, I went with her to pick out the dentist she began her first dental treatment today. She will get at least one implant. I brought her some dental floss on my trip and now is using it on a daily basis.

I hope you guys are investing in your wives teeth first thing. Teeth that are unattended will eventually cause infections will eat away at the jaw bone.

Do you have any stories ?

I am not buying her a ring until she gets here but I am paying for a ring in dental cost while she is in Cebu. Ouch !!!

How much is the implant alone? I tried to get a bridge here and it cost a lot. I'm considering to have it done back home.
