Well, Hicham has a cousin in the US, and he hasn't talked to her in several years but I am thinking maybe we should ask her for her help as a co sponsor for the affidavit of support. He is going to talk to his Dad about it but do you think it's wrong to ask her? We don't want any money or anything- just her signature and other documents needed to help us out. Should we ask her? There aren't really any other options for us besides my parents but that's another story. Thanks.

Sarah,

Based on what I've seen here lately, it may not be such a good idea going through Morocco to even mention any family in the US for your fiancee. Several who have had denials lately have had the fact that the benificiary had relatives here brought up in the interview.

Maybe those of you who experienced this could provide some better feedback for Sarah.

I think this is something that can get their attention, probably an excuse they'd use for extra review time but I don't think they'd deny him on that...I know that if its the only sponsor option you got then you still should try.

I would work on the parents though. I tend to think that if you started now getting them ready to see you move to Morocco when school lets out in May if noone sponsors him might make them at least consider. If you can just get them to imagine sponsoring him, then you can reinforce how rare it is for benificiaries to get the affidavits enforced and how much easier life will be when you are a 2 income household if he just gets here....

I didn't go through this so I'm not speaking from experience, but I know how moms are and the thought of you moving out there will keep her up at night.

just my opinions...
