Hi everyone! :)

(Sorry in advance if these questions are stupid, but its my only way to learn)

1. Is the cover letter example (Cover Letter for I-129F) the same for the CR1?

Or is the CR1 totally different from that one. I want a cover letter example for the CR1.

Does visajourney have one if its not the same as the 129f¿

2. Also, i didn´t see if i needed my fiances birth certificate copied as well as mine? Is it okay if i still copy it?

3. (A copy of petitioner's proof of naturalization. (If applicable) does that mean my birth certificate or social security card?

4. (A copy of your marriage certificate (If not inEnglish then again get a translation)-- Where can i translate mine (when i get married)? Omaha nebraska or Dominican Republic?

5. I was looking at the G-325A form and for the nationality i just put american right? Since i dont know anything about my dad do i still have to put his name down on the paper as well?

2ah5p4o.jpg

The circled part since ill be filling for the CR1 i just put I-CR1 instead of the 129? My fiance has to fill the paper out as well right?

6. Is this section of the intructions one whole packet?

2. Also, i didn´t see if i needed my fiances birth certificate copied as well as mine? Is it okay if i still copy it?

The beneficiary's birth certificate is not needed for the initial filing at USCIS.

3. (A copy of petitioner's proof of naturalization. (If applicable) does that mean my birth certificate or social security card?

If the petitioner is a US Citizen, they need to prove US Citizenship, if you were born in the US, your birth certificate will suffice; if you were naturalized, then your naturalization certificate can be used. Another acceptable item for proof of citizenship

4. (A copy of your marriage certificate (If not inEnglish then again get a translation)-- Where can i translate mine (when i get married)? Omaha nebraska or Dominican Republic?

Either, the translation would have to have an attestation statement that states the translation is accurate and the individual doing the translating is competent to do so.

5. I was looking at the G-325A form and for the nationality i just put american right? Since i dont know anything about my dad do i still have to put his name down on the paper as well?

You write what you know.

2ah5p4o.jpg

The circled part since ill be filling for the CR1 i just put I-CR1 instead of the 129? My fiance has to fill the paper out as well right?

You would write Form I-130.

1. What kind of visa are you applying for? We applied for IR-1/CR-1 and we were not asked to write a "cover letter" of any sort. There was a cover letter addressed to us by the NVC that needs to be attached to the AOS (Affidavit of Support) and IV (Immigrant Visa) Packets but they send that to us thru email.

2. Your beneficiary's birth certificate is CRITICAL. It has to be original and sealed by the Census office in her country. If you send photocopies, they would still require you to produce original copies during the interview.

3. If you were naturalized, you need to show your social security card as well as your american passport.

4. Where did you get married and where did you apply for a marriage certificate? If it's outside US, you need to have your copy translated by a legit office accepted or endorsed by the US Embassy and have it notarized.

5. If you're a naturalized american, then yes, it is your nationality! abt your dad, if you only know his name then write it down.

Hey! I'm going to send you my cover letter later today, sorry to be so slow on that. It has a checklist of everything I included. In the meantime, in regards to the info about your dad, if you don't know something, make sure you write "UNKNOWN" in the space. Never leave anything blank!

In regards to the translation of the marriage certificate, we had ours translated in the DR (cheap and fast!), but when we came back to the US, some people/agencies wouldn't accept that translation. For example, the Social Security office would accept it...but the DMV wouldn't. Go figure. So you might have to get it translated again when you get here anyway.

Beneficiary Birth Certificates are not filed with the I-130. They are sent to NVC at the NVC stage of the process.

When filing the G-325A it says family name i just put my maiden last name right? Becaue ill have my husbands last name i dont know if id put his last name or not.

Family name is asked for in more than one place. At the top of the foreigner's G325a, put the current legal name. If your name changed at marriage, put the married name and then put maiden name for other names used. On the petitioner's G325a the maiden name of the foreign spouse is asked for further down the form. Put the maiden name there as asked.

If you changed your name it's YOUR last name now, not just his.

Im just going by what it says on the step by step guide for the I-130 here http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide1

the second part says cover letter. I didnt know they send it to you because its before the I-130

That user was referring to the coverletter NVC produces when you pay for AOS and Visa Application fees. It has your NVC case number and barcodes.

The cover letter you were referring to is produced by you, a sort of outline that lists the documents and forms you are including with your I-130 petition. This cover letter is not required by law, we do it for the benefit of organization.

Now that you know you want to follow the CR-1 route think of the process as having 3 stages

1)USCIS stage

2)NVC stage

3)Consulate stage

Read about each stage, make a list of documents that you anticipate you may need. That way if there is an issue you can address it early on.

Where should you read?
