DS 156K question

Hello,

At the top of this form it states that this is to be completed in duplicate. I've searched and really haven't found any concrete evidence to this. It doesn't say this in the P3 instructions either. Could anyone clarify if we do need two copies? Sorry if I'm missing something.

Embassy specific form.

US embassy in Canada requires the form and a copy of the form. You will need to ask if your embassy wants a copy or not.

What we did was made 3 copies. One to be sent back with packet 3, one to bring to the interview, and one to keep if those 2 got lost. Hope that helps. Good luck.

I know they encourage photocopies of all the original DS forms once submitted, but the 156K is the only one that states duplicate. To be on the safe side I was going to print a couple originals, so now I will for sure.

Yes sorry that is what we did was had 3 originals. Just remember you fill out about half the page and the rest you fill out in the embassy.

Just curious if your case has been sent to NVC and or if the embassy has received your case?

I wonder why they do require this form in duplicate? No problem though, I'll provide what they ask of course. Yes, I do see that the bottom half will be completed by my fiancee at the interview.

We received our case number a couple weeks back and the embassy has already received our case. It's taking a little extra time getting the paperwork together, and May is going to Bangkok next week for the physical and police certificate. We're hoping to submit everything by the end of the month.

copies dont hurt. if you send 3 at the consulate nothing bad would happen just make sure if you printed them, the signature is by hand on both of them. dont copy an already signed form, you need original signatures on all copies. good luck!!!

really right?? lol i was filing them yesterday and my dilema was "what would the consul say if he saw NONE on occupation.....?". we can solve problems way harder and when it comes to simple things like this we're all stuck LOL
