Hello everybody! Here's my dilemma.Me and my husband went to Alaska thru Canada and I forgot or lets say I'm confused as to the exact date we crossed the border.I remember its April 19 but my husband said its April 20. They did not stamp my passport which is normal I think so I don't have any proof or evidence. At that time I was stupid enough to think that I don't need this info and that I will remember it somehow how dumb of me!!I'm about to file my N400 in a few months and I don't wanna put a date which I'm not sure of.I already called CBP and they said that they don't divulge those records to the public and USCIS said they cant help me with this.I know that its my fault and I accept full responsibility for it and please don't remind me what a moron I am as I'm already banging my head on the wall.Stupid me!!

Suggestions are welcome! Thanks!

Maybe if you look around for things that could remind you of that date? Stuff you bought on that trip and around that date, or just before you left from the States? Maybe you kept receipts for it? Magazines, newspapers you remember buying on that day that you might still keep? Pictures you took? Just relax and try to reconstruct and replay that day and the days around it in your head. It's gonna be ok, you'll remember it!

Good luck!

Thanks a lot pumpkinseed! That's what I was trying to do.Ive been rummaging thru all our photos, receipts and everything that would remind me of it.The only problem was we were on my hubby's company's dime during that travel so we had to give them all our hotel/restaurant receipts for reimbursements. Thanks again! Advice taken! Have a great day!!

Hi,

Did you use a credit card or debit card to pay for anything around this time. Might give you an idea of what date you used it.

hth

We did use a debit card but we already closed that account more than a year ago:(((

It's totally irrelevant for N-400 purposes. Just tell the I.O. at the interview that you are not sure about the exact date.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

Thanks! You're totally right.I finally got a hold of a more knowledgeable IO and was told to put 'estimate' on the dates if I forgot about it...

As you were already told, it's irrelevant, but if you do truly want to know you could probably contact your husband's company. Since it was work related, they probably have exact record dates.
