Chinese Police Report for NVC

My wife is baffling me now, she went to Police Station.

They gave her a single piece of paper in Chinese and says she is clear of any crime. Just a single sheet of paper completely in Mandarin, not sealed or in any envelope, they also said to her that they do not give original report out and they keep that in the office.

Is this correct? I have been trying to find Mandarin instructions on how to obtain the Mainland Police Report. Should she just take that piece of paper they gave her and she go make a white book of it?

So I should send just that single sheet of of paper plus a white book to NVC?

I searched the forums but they all talk about foreigners trying to get police reports in china and has broken links.

Another thing,

She said the notarial office (for white books) said they will keep her report (the sheet she was given by police) if they want to make a white book of it??? then maybe I should just send the original report sheet

to NVC in mandarin without a white book. Cause if a whitebook is made, the original sheet wont be able to be sent to NVC

Is it okay for me to just send the Mandarin chinese report sheet (original) without any white books to NVC?

I also had to secure a police clearance in China since I lived in Beijing for 2 yrs. Yes, it's a single sheet of paper written in Mandarin and you will be required to have it translated to English by a reliable and licensed agency. Ask the US Embassy for assistance, they will suggest some translation company you can hire.

Yea just tell her to go to 公证处 (gong zheng chu) and make a notorial. I think they all use a copy and put it into the white booklet but I'm not sure... What ever it is, its standard procedure but you definitely need the booklet!

She said she did that, but they warned her.

If they make the white book, they take the original police sheet for good. and all she gets back is just a white book with a copy of the document in it (but not the actual sheet she got from police)

they said if she makes a copy of the police report herself and they notarize just the copy, they will say "this copy.... has been translated" and it will probably be a red flag because they stated the item was not original.

Read all of this -

white books - http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/228853-notarial-birth-certificate/

Then - shove the bits in chinese to yer lass.

Good Luck !

(ps - ignore the bickering there, the info given is golden)

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I read that thread before in regard to getting the Marriage White Books.

She understood all that. We have gotten Birth Certificate and Marriage White Books already.

The confusion on the DS-230 is it says "original police report"

But the Shenyang Government Notarial office collects the report she got from the PSB to make the white book.

So it leaves me with a White Book, not "the original police report"

Yea.. Don't translate the photocopy! I don't know if they will not accept it if it says "this copy... has been translated" You should PM some of the others who recently interviewed with Guangzhou and see if they know. I only have the scanned version of my husband's white book and I can't tell if its photocopied or if its original. Sorry

We just handed in the White Book. I never saw the original report, the notary office likely kept it.

some further explanation, then ...

the white book is a notarial translation, inside it consists of:

1. a certified copy of the thing being translated

2. a translation of the thing into english

3. the notarial statement on the certified copy

4. the notarial statement on the translation

get one? it's golden, for use at GUZ IV.

it's not just 'one thing inside', aye? GUZ IV understands the white book, so you give the white book version of the police clearance certificate/letter, you'll be golden.

Good Luck !

If interviewing at the Consulate in Guangzhou, the beneficiary must obtain the Police Certificate in the form of a white book from the Notarial Office where their Hukou is located, GZ IV will not accept anything else.

Ditto with us. Keep in mind that the notary in China is a government bureau so anything you get from them is still an official document. The white book certificate of no criminal background is fine for the NVC and the consulate.
