Hello mates,

We are prepping material for the DS-230. My wife was a student for four years in Australia. In addition to a police certificate for her present residence/area in Vietnam, I am assuming that she will need a police certificate from Australia for the time that she was a student there. Where and how can we get that police certificate, the one with the fingerprints (I think that's required)?

She currently lives in Vietnam and I am in the States; and we're clueless as where to start this process. I hope she does not need to fly to Australia to get this police certificate/fingerprints. :(

Please advise. Thanks for your inputs.

to do list:
file i-130, petition for alien relative
get immigrant visa
get ssn card and green card
get employment authorization - not required
file I-751, petition to remove the conditions of residence (before 2nd year expires upon entry)
become a US citizen

Thank you Visajourney!

If she's overseas (outside of Australia), how can she get the fingerprint check (as required) in Australia? This is what confuses me the most.

She'll probably need to have ink prints taken at a local police station. http://www.afp.gov.au/what-we-do/police-checks/national-police-checks.aspx#fingerprints

Thank you again V&T. I should have read it before asking the question; and thank you for replying.
