Sorry, the wife and I have been online all day doing this and we are still stumped on a few. Please can we have some help (and please, no links to the guides, which we already read and re-read multiple times). :)

G-325A Biographic Information:

1. Top right it has a box for "File Number" and a big A listed. Is that the long number on the I-94?

2. Towards the bottom it states, This form is submitted in connection with application for: __Naturalization __Status as Permanent Resident __Other (Specify)

We don't know what to put here. My wife entered under a K1. We were married 8/16. What do we do here?

I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status:

1. Page 1, end of Part 1, it asks for Current USCIS Status. What do we put here?

2. Under Part 3 we are confused if all of Part 3 relates to my wife. Like, "In what staus did you last enter?" Do they mean her first and only entry here into the USA? If so, do we list K1? Or are they asking if she has ever erntered PRIOR to that?

3. Part 3 it asks for a Nonimmigrant Visa Number. Uh, I am brain dead here. What are they asking for? Which number?

I am sorry if this has been asked and answered before. I have looked and looked again.

Thanks very much.

Hi Matt! I am also filling everything out and here is what I did:

1. I thought it meant A# from the NOA2 so I put that.

2. don't know, waiting for someone to answer that.

1. I put K-1 currently adjusting status

2. K-1 fiance Visa

3. The Nonimmigrant Visa number is the red number towards the bottom on the right side.

I also am waiting to see someone else answer, and I would reccomend that you do the same as I am not 100% certain.

Good luck!

Hello Matt,

The file number A means her Alien number. And your question 2, is "other (specify): Adjustment of Status". Your wife entered in the USA as a K1 visa and her nonimmigrant visa number was her US visa numbers (in red) inside her passport.

Good luck :)

Thanks, walls1010. But what is the Alien number? Sorry, but I am not sure I understand what that means. She has so many numbers in her passport. Is that the number hand written on the back of her I-94 inside her passport? I need clarification.

ANOTHER QUESTION... I am in the middle of a move and NOT WORKING. So no income is coming in. I will need a sponsor and will use my mother. But she is not working either because she is moving! I am very afraid of what will happen now. She has major assets. A near 400K house (maybe a 100K mortgage) and some decent savings, but she is not rich.

Advice?

On form I-864 I am terribly confused about a few questions.

Part 1, number 1. What do I answer? "I am the petitioner. I am filing for the immigration of my relative." or... "I am the only joint sponsor" or... "I am the first of two joint sponsors" ???

Part 3, #8. Under "I am sponsoring the principle immigrant named in Part 2 above" do I check YES or NO (Applicable only in cases with two joint sponsors) ???????

Part 5. This is really confusing! Since I am doing this with my mother, God bless her, do I list her here under question G?

Part 6, I am unemployed right now because of this move down south. How do I address this?

G-325A Form.

1.- NO, I-94 number is other stuff. The A is the Alien Registration Number and you can find it the form I-797 (Notice of action) where the USCIS told you that your K1 was approved; is like this: Beneficiary A000 000 000 and below that the fiance name.

2.- Mark Status as Permanent Resident.

I-485 Form.

1.- Current USCIS Status. Write: K1 Visa Holder.

2.- In what status.... Write: K1 Visa Holder.

3.- Noninmigrant Visa Number is in her passport. The Consulate stamped a Visa in her passport and the number is in red color in that Visa.

We hope you this help you to take your stress away, we were like that two months ago and now we are waiting for the Initian Interview in September 26, so I think we did it right :P

Good luck!

Hi Matt,

G-325A

1. This box is for your wife's so-called Alien Number, or A Number. You will find this beside her name on the NOA2 that you received for the I-129F.

2. Write "Adjustment of Status" in that box.

I-485

1. "K-1 Visa Holder" should be fine.

2. "K-1 Visa Holder" should be fine.

3. The red number on the visa that was stamped in her passport at the consulate.

You'll find a lot of this information in the example forms on VJ. Click the "Example Forms" link at the top of this page.

Best of luck,

Thanks so much for the answers, gang.

Hey, can my wife file form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, NOW, before she files for AOS, or do they have to go together?

We want to send the I-765 in now since it will take at least another week or two to get together all of the materials we need to file for AOS. :(

Never mind. I am an idiot. We have to do it the same time.

The I-765 Employment authorization has to be submitted with or after the AOS application - it cannot go before. Employment Authorization is given based upon immigration status. Your wife's immigration status until she files the AOS is K-1 visa holder, but her status expires when the I-94 expires. The only Employment Authorization she could get before you file the AOS would be based on that I-94 which means it would expire on the same date as the I-94. The EAD that comes with the AOS is valid for one year or until the AOS is approved, but the AOS has to be filed before immigration can grant an EAD based on that application. It is only a week - hang on, you'll get it together soon enough. Send them together:-); if you file for EAD before the AOS you would only be wasting your money.
