I-751s used to be a very low-priority petition when I started on this trip. Heck, it seemed like all petitions were.. I-130s regularly took 2-3 years for Service Center approval. It was not uncommon then for these cases to take 18 months.

Lately, they are going thru in the requested 3-6 month time frame.

The most important thing to remember is that once you get this letter, your status doesn't expire while they are working on you.

If you are approacing month 11 with no word, a follow up InfoPass would be in orderk, if only to get a pasport stamp for continued evidence of status.

Also, those who want to naturalize do NOT have to wait on a decision on I-751 to turn in their N-400. In fact, that used to be the preferred method for getting action on the I-751. Service had to pull the old petition up to clear the naturalization case!

Does the 12 month extension start on the date your GC expires or the receipt date of the NOA letter? I've been assuming the date of the GC expiration.
