I need some assistance regarding an issue I am having with my citizenship application. I received my interview letter on September 28, 2010. They sent me a letter stating an interview was scheduled for November 8th but then I received a cancellation letter on October 8, 2010 stating that it had been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances. I went to the immigration office regarding the cancellation and they have advice me that they have received my file and they will let me know what will take place regarding the completion of my citizenship. I have returned several times back to the immigration office but they have advice me of the same thing. On December 29 2010, I requested help from congresswomen ,regarding this issue. She did receive a response back from immigration after 30 days advising that application is still in process for background check and no answer can be given at this time. i have written to a senator no answer from him. What should be my next step please let me know.

Thank you.Its been almost a year sisnce i started this process. Please let me know what should be my next step.

Go back to the congresswoman's immigration aide that already worked on your case and ask her for follow-up.

No respone from senator as you already had representation (congresswoman) - you don't want more than one person representing you.

If no sufficient response, look into filing writ of mandamus - this forces government agency to rule on your case.
