If you take away all the unemployment benefits, people without jobs will be willing to do any job, for any pay - they got to eat. AND they will be willing to do that job to the best of their ability, scared of losing it. So, yes, at the moment when there is already an over-supply of workers for pretty much any job, employers will have an endless supply of available and willing to do the job at any cost.

To give you an example, someone was hired at my work to do tech work requiring a BS in biochemistry for 30K salary, with weak prospects to stay at the job for longer than 6 months (funding issues), with no overtime pay and for this person particularly - with 2 hour commute each way. He was excellent. He used to make twice the salary in a different kind of position. He took the job because he was not able to find anything for 6 months and at least this job gave him some experience and covered a gap in his resume. We had a loads of applicants for his position, most of them highly qualified.

I agree that middle class would do well to be saved, but... what you suggest is NOT an incentive for a company to raise salaries. It is an incentive to do what I described - replace current workforce with cheapest possible government subsidized workforce (cheap labor).

Do corporations have an endless supply of "good" workers willing to replace anyone they cut? I seriously doubt that. However, if you feel that a coorporation would slash salaries and benefits when given an incentive to do the opposite then that means the incentive isn't great enough and needs to be increased.

Social Security and Medicare, for one - as explained above. Furthermore, you often find 10-20 illegals living in the same house to save money, so 9-19 property taxes per property-tax-paying illegal.

What about the tens of millions (assuming) whites that are working under the table...Backyard mechanics, painters, skilled trade, lawn services, etc. Not paying a dime in taxes.

But you are right about the living scenario. Well, slightly exaggerating...I'd say more like 4 to 8 in the same house.

What about them? They are breaking the law and should face penalties.

Any numbers to work on?

My guess is the illegals (20 million?) are far outnumbered by the whites in terms of not paying taxes.

Of that 20 million I'd say at least 8 million are getting paid by check with taxes coming out.

Around here illegals work at well-known restaurants...And are loaded up at coney islands and McDonald's too.

And trust me, they aren't being secretly paid in cash (what, $4 an hour) by the manager! headbonk.gif They make good money and just as much as a legal employee would.

And who do you want to hire as your dish washer? A 22 year old high school drop out that does drugs.

Or a 48 year old hard working Mexican that comes in everyday, does the job with no complaints, and actually wants to be there.

Yes, illegals are good for America.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

So what? You're trying to justify illegal behavior by pointing to other examples of illegal behavior?

"Whites are breaking the law too, so it must be ok"

Think about what you're saying.

I didn't say that. But if I have to choose between a 22 year old drug addict that does a half/a$ job and a 50 year Mexican that is a career dishwasher with decades of experience in the industry! I'm gonna take the illegal.

All I'm saying is as far as dodging taxes go and working under the table - we probably have a much bigger problem with legals than we do with illegals.

Would you still take the illegal if he stole your identity and you had to pay taxes on the income he reported to the IRS using your Social Security number?

No. But I am under the impression that the documentation they have is not a stolen ID....Falsely created, but not the ID of another Americano!

You can't throw that on an entire group of people. I.e. If there are 20 million illegals and 1 million have stole an identity (actually a legal citizen probably helped them steal it) you are taling about 5%. How many times have you heard of an illegal stealing someones idenitity and a US tax payer having to pay the taxes on that? Sure, it might take some time for the IRS and the USC to get down to the bottom of it, but I'd be shocked to hear that anyone (other than someone just not educated enough to look into it or fight it) ends up having to pay taxes because an illegal used his SS# after all the research is done.

I actually agree with almost every single thing Lord Infamous has said in this post. He really is spot on correct.

I had my SSN stolen by an illegal working for some construction company.

And I'm as paranoid as they come - I never give out my SSN unless absolutely necessary,

and I never throw out any documents without shredding them first.

Believe me, if *my* number was stolen, it's a much bigger problem than you think.

#######? They get busted for identity theft left and right. They are illegal's who knowingly and willingly broke the laws of this country when they entered the US illegally.

correct... regardless, even if it was a stolen ID who is stupid enough to give in to the IRS and pay the taxes that someone else racked up using his SS#. It may be a hassle, but at the end of the day people know their earnings, most get a W2, and it all gets sorted out if there are any discrepancies. Where in the world are people hearing about USC having to pay taxes based on illegals using their SS#? Yes, there are stolen identities. There are stolen identities by non-illegals as well, but where has anyone heard of the IRS saying, well you still have to pay those taxes even though you have proved it's not you? Come on, think about it folks.

You are correct on every point.

But Social security and medicare do not pay for education of illegal's US citizen children.

Furthermore, while it is also correct that most illegals will have very modest living arrangements, it is probably tied to their low income and their inability to get credit. Those who are paid better probably live comparably to the Americans in the lower 50% income bracket.

Furthermore, those US citizen children will grow up and contribute to society like every US citizen does.

I agree that illegals should not be here and that they are likelier to engage in crime... but I also think that blank statements such as they pay no taxes and steal services are just that, lazy blanket statements.

Yes.

Yes.

No. 50 percent of Americans do not pay federal income taxes. They pay Social Security, Medicare and other federal taxes.

What you're asking is what taxes are illegals not paying that the bottom 50 percent of US citizens are.

Social Security and Medicare, for one - as explained above. Furthermore, you often find 10-20 illegals living in the same house to save money, so 9-19 property taxes per property-tax-paying illegal.

I wonder what the percentage of illegals is in regards to paying income tax. I would guess close to zero to none.
