You must be a closet smoker.

Thanks for jacking my post. That was going to be my next post on here and you used it.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

They're social traditionalists and don't like being forced to consider non-traditional morals and practices to be normal and acceptable.

I see you're trying to play the devils advocate here, but I'm not sure what kind of social traditionalist pays prostitutes for sex or does drugs or believes that a feminist is a woman who dresses like a hooker and confines their daily activities to domestic chores and sex. That doesn't seem very conventional to me.

All we are left with are traditional (stereotypical) male gender roles.

Yea, that's pretty traditional. Don't confuse it with conservative.

He who hesitates is lost.

Is that the new PC word for bigot? I find it absurd that a religious morality is being used to justify denying American citizens civil rights.

Bigoted against religion?

Well, one can stop smoking, and no longer be a smoker, however, one gay thought, and you will always be a **.

Not to change the subject, but even if I did stop smoking, those laws forcing bars to convert to non smoking bars is total bs.

Traditional in this case is bigoted - against gays, women and racial and religious minorities.

You use the word 'bigot' so much that I think you've forgotten its meaning....

Wasn't disgusting to the Greeks or Romans, the founders of Western Civilization.

Obviously this is only tangentially related to the topic of this thread, but why are the Greeks and Romans the founders of Western Civilization? Yes, there were influences. But the middle ages provide a gap between the Greeks and Romans and the rise of western civilization. Further, western civilization is morally defined by the Judeo-Christian tradition, which has obvious contradictions with Greek and Roman moral traditions.

Except when they were "rediscovered" during the Renaissance.

The Romans adopted Christianity.

The Romans adopted Christianity.

And I'm going to guess that's when they stopped the orgies and other lewd behavior. If you look at Rome from the time they adopted Christianity and then on to the Middle Ages... and Puritan times...Western civilization was nothing like the Roman - Greco period of pre Christianity.

You don't need to guess, you can find out for yourself.
