just want to ask if i can travel outside the US for 2 weeks im on my 3rd week of my 3 months residency requirement . tnx

You can travel as you wish. The two rules you must meet when applying for naturalization are continuous residence and physical presence.

http://www.uscis.gov/files/article/M-476.pdf

Continuous Residence: should not leave the US for periods of 6 months or longer

Physical presense: you must have lived in the US for 18 months in the past 36 months (if applying based on 3 years) or 30 months out of 60 months (if applying based on 5 years)

Think that three month resident requirement has something to do with moving to a new address. That seems strange to me, as the USCIS is a federal, not a state agency.

With this bit on attorneys, have to find an attorney that is licensed in your state, or in the state where the incident occurred. But not with immigration attorneys, can be in any state you choose. So at least this is treated on a federal basis.

I believe that if moving to a new location, has nothing to do with taking trips as long as the other resident requirements are met. But your new permanent mailing address has to be valid for those three months. Make sure you updated your AR-11.

Totally misread the original post.

Yes - the 3 months apply to when you move from one residence to another. The rule of thumb is usually a different state, but it is not always the case.

For example, if I move from Houston where I currently live to Dallas, then I have to wait 3 months before I apply simply because the Field Office is different for each city (or residence location). If you travel, you will not abandon you current residence and therefore still live in the same location and are not in violation of the rules.
