I'm just starting the process with the company I used to work with called Moneycorp, so far they've been prompt and quick to reply to any enquires. But I expected that of them. You might want to check them out and see what kind of exchange rate they can offer you. I'll let you know how my money transfer went with them. :)

Wire transfer. Get the process set up with your UK bank while youa re still there.. often they require a personal appearance to start up internet banking & transfer services (did for us back when, anyway). Ask what they will need for you to be able to access your funds from overseas.

I too have my main account with Barclays and I send money to my BOA account via internet banking (barclays and BOA are part of a partnership where as you dont pay the higher rates if you draw money from your barclays account from a BOA ATM)

Donna

Almost done with it all

Some banks charge a Transfer Fee at both ends

Try HIFX they claim to offer better exchange rates and you wont be charged again when you receive your money in the US. I havent used them yet but do intend to use them for transferring my funds when i come to USA.
